Many of you never cease to amaze me…..
Try this thinking:

Suppose the company you work for (assuming you work) decided to stop charging for their services and also asked their employees (yourself included) to work for free.  How long would you stick around?  How many employees would they have after a week?  Would they (or you) be a self centered greedy bastard if they said I am leaving because I need to get paid?

Think about it…its about the money for you as well as everyone else, we all have expenses and mouths to feed.

Who..... I just want to take a second to say that you are definitely a brainwashed sellout. I don't know about the Quintessential Yuppie part, but the sellout part fits you perfectly.

Why do you come on here spewing your cult speak??? We all know you on the payroll of one of these places. Is coming on here part of your job description??? Damage control for them I guess.

And tell me how it is you can sleep at night knowing that you are warehousing your own kid. That's  not being a parent, that making your problem disappear rather than dealing with them like an adult. Pretty damn selfish of you if you ask me.

WWASPS/Premier doesn't charge separately for the seminars.  Their tuitions aren't as high as Aspens either.

Hmm… Okay, well that’s changed.  I am no longer a yuppie sellout it seems, I am now part of Nimbia or some such organization.  So I am not brainwashed nor have I sold anyone out, my title proves it.

It is common sense.  I am not profiting directly from these schools and if there was any damage done I don’t know how posting would help… that doesn’t make much sense to me.

My daughter is grown and on her own, doing quite well.  She doesn’t live in a warehouse, although, she could have chosen a better neighborhood, there are some warehouses near her.  As far as parenting skills or sleeping at night… both are fine.  My children are a great reflection how well we did.

The Who states he "does not profit directly from these schools."
Does that mean he profits "indirectly?"

I remember what it was like when I had nobody to turn to. Being at an Aspen program was so hard for me, I had no voice, nobody believed me about anything. I hate the fact that the majority of people if not all people have no idea where I am coming from. My husband is wondering why I even care, and I should just put this all behind me. Nobody knows until you are locked up in one of these places, and the days go by sooooo slowly. Look, I am 24 years old. I thought at the age of 18 I was done with all this (that's my guesstimate when I first let go, now it has come back). Well, I gave it a lot of time, ,and energy back in the day. Nobody fought for me, I didn't have people like you on my side. Had I had the support that's so obviously there for teens now, I would have taken these assholes down a long time ago. I am here to say THINK TWICE BEFORE SENDING YOUR CHILDREN TO ANY OF THESE ASPEN PROGRAMS. Seriously, when I was there they hired just anyone off the street. The only person that had any kind of degree around there was your therapist who you saw once a week. These staff were young, and had no experience with kids. Lately, I have felt horrible. All these kids, who like me didn't want to be sent away. It wasn't by choice. I know my parents made some very poor decisions. The decision of sending me to a program ranks # 1 on the list. Still after all these years, my Dad says how sorry he is. My Dad is 85 years old, and loves watching Fox News. There has been reports on abusive facilities, and now he realizes that I was telling the truth. Especially, when I am able to tell him everything today just the way I did all those years ago. It's amazing, I remember things as if it were only yesterday. You always remember the truth, because you experienced it. Lies get washed away. I need to know why this has gone so far? Why after all these years is it still happening? Years later I do a "google search" and I am horrified. I thought having one school was bad enough, but knowing that they've multiplied like this???? How did this happen? I should have done something while I had the chance. With the financial momentum they have, they get squashed, then they re-invent themselves. I want to know you TheWho, how do you wake up everyday and look at yourself in the mirror?

We all profit indirectly.  Chances are your 401k has a health care system listed, insurance company etc........

I am sorry for the bad experience you had, but there are thousands of kids every year whose lives have be changed forever (for the better).  Kids who otherwise may be lost to drugs, suicide, living on the streets who knows where.  These kids straightened out, moved on to college and are in control of their own lives an making healthy decisions for themselves.

Although I am aware, thru reading here on fornits, that some schools seem to have problems and the more people that come forward the better so that the weak areas can be exposed and corrected.

There is presently an investigation going on thru Sen. George Millers office which seems to be heading for regulation of the industry, which people here seem to be excited about.  This seems to be designed to dig out and expose some of the problem areas within the industry so that it may grow sronger and in a healthier direction.  The industry is changing and growing..... 10 years ago we had about 45 programs which were aimed specifically towards troubled teens and now we have approached 500, if not topped that.  So the demand is strong and the success rate is high but there is always going to be a need for improvement and areas which expose kids to unnecessary danger.

Hope this helps you see why some of us are optimistic and excited.. it is a good feeling knowing kids are being helped and watching them move on.
