Apology to HLA
« on: July 02, 2007, 05:19:53 PM »
I owe an apology to Christy Jones and HLA for my comments made about the school based off of rumors. My experience at Ridge Creek was a great one and I learned a lot of positive things about the mistakes I was making in life and how to correct them. My fears and concerns about HLA prompted me to write the negative comments about the school that I take full responsibility for. I am very apologetic for making those comments.

I think that everyone's experience at HLA or Ridge Creek is what they make of it--in which I chose to make the best of mine. I based my concerns off of rumors and I understand that it was very irresponsible on my part.

first of all, HLA isn't licensed.  Tell your parents that.  Also, send them here:

http://homepage.mac.com/psyborgue/parents.html

Have them read that letter, and if they don't believe RTCs are that bad, PM me and i'll send you contact info that you can give them to get in touch.  Deborah (ex-hla parent) and/or a bunch of ex-hla students should be here in a minute to give you specifics...  Do not go.  If they try and get an escort service for you (to force you), resist.  Scream, yell, anything to get the cops.  Tell them you are being kidnapped.  You don't have to go with them.  They can attempt to make you, but you do not have to comply.

Whatever you do, do not go.

My parents are not hiring an escort service. They are just as worried as I am. We are all very confused and we have been reading these forums together.

Sent you a PM with my phone

if your parents feel like calling to talk, I can explain to them some of the dangers of this industry.  HLA is also shutting down, according to Len Buccellato's own testimony in court.  They are lying to the parents about their financial situation... That isn't even to mention the recent, somewhat convenient, fire that destroyed HLA's records (and the academic building).

Well... If I get a call, we will know.  Otherwise, you are probably right.

Hi cactor,
Why the rush?

You will find the most information on this forum. Read through the threads.
You might also visit the MySpace forums.

BTW, HLA just received a temporary license from the Office of Regulatory Services. That means they didn't fully comply with all the regulations. They have 6 months to come into compliance. You can called the licensing division (Mr Bostick) and ask what prevented them from receiving a full license.

Office of Regulatory Services

Phone: 404.657.5700
Fax: 404.657.5708

Good luck to you.

If your parents want to talk to a parent, send me their phone number in a PM.  I will be glad to talk them out of HLA and suggest some regular boarding schools for you.

Stay away from HLA. Get back into school, work with a LICENSED & QUALIFIED counselor on your issues, and get your act together.

There is a reason why there is a lawsuit in place and why a few others have been filed more recently. There is a reason why the state of Georgia FORCED HLA to become licensed - and would only issue a temporary license.

Is HLA putting the pressure on you to make a decision?

a candidate for HLA..

I would suggest that you and your family go see a therapist that is completely independent of HLA.  Tell them you situation and get their opinion about what you should do.

As a parent of a former student at HLA, I can tell you that HLA is not the choice you want to make for your child. They make lots of false promises to you about what they will do for your child. It all sounds good when they tell you all about how they will help your child, but it does not work that way at all.  Please save yourself a lot of $$$ and heartache and make another choice for your child. Do not let HLA get their hooks into you and your child and then you are really stuck because they will not get academic credit if you take your child out early. I will be glad to talk to any prospective parents that would like to talk to me about it. We will tell you the truth about what our experiences were like before you make that decision. HLA was a very negative environment, and in my opinion, that is why most parents take their children out of the program early.

Perhaps he meant in a bad way?

Also feel free to use whatever you need out of my blog to aid your cause of staying out of that cesspit. The stories in there are about a different facility all together, but the industry is rife with the same tragic similarities.
