Trouble Funk - Live, venue unknown - "Lonzo get busy!"

sho' nuff bumpin bizznatch! I've seen them live too many times to count. Trouble Funk & Chuck Brown & the Soul Searchers. Course it's labeled "go-go" but certainly is by far soem of the best live, funk/r&b/jazz/soul I ever had the opportunity to experience.  I actually got pulled up on stage in dc once at the Warner Theater when we went to see Chuck Brown.  16 years old and white lol thank god I could dance.

Chuck Brown, yeah!  "Run Joe, Run Joe"!  All that great percussion and the shout outs, pure interactive entertainment.  I was a long-haired white boy of German descent - my people did those fucked-up dances to oom-pah music with lederhosen on after too much Bock beer.  I sho' nuff was the odd man out...

But do you remember the semi-legendary Redds and the Boys?

I'll be on IM tomorrow night, let's chat for a bit.

Oh wow, kick ass.  Percussion and Horns!  your people are midgets? I played one in the wizard of oz maybe we are related LMAO...

Run Joe was good although I liked 1970s Chuck Brown the best like Bustin Loose and I need Some Money, talkin bout money money money. Cuz we all know it  don't mean a thing if you ain't got the go-go swing! K i need to listen to some now.

Seriously though that rocks, hell, if you were ever at a live show we might have run into each other back then.

Familiar w/ Redds & the Boys sure... What about Little Benny & the Masters, Hot Cold Sweat, Rare Essense, EU, The Junkyard Band.  Still have a lot of it on vinyl, been able to find some really good classic mp3s too.  Def. IM me I should be around.

Check it out Zen... New song of his but definitely the same ole Chuck. Country Boy. Love them horns. (zipped mp3)

Oh, man, I almost forgot "Bustin' Loose", they even used to play that on the DC album Rock station WAVA 105.9, with the legendary DJ Cerph.  (He's the guy who introduces Little Feat to the stage on that live album)  Bustin' loose in the evenin', Bustin' loose can be pleasin'

EU were the only Go-Go band that got some real attention - everyone remember doing "Da Butt"?  Where's Sugar Bear when you need him?

See "da butt" i feel was kinda like the sell out song of go-go. Granted it was spike lee's doing but that just isn't the real deal. I mean if you know the real deal I don't think you'd argue with that. It gave people a glimpse but it failed bring forth the raw sound and energy of that wonderful genre of music. In my opinion.

I used to see EU at a club in DC on GA Avenue called The Black Hole.  Suga Bear the lead singer I've actually had lunch with a few times, he's very cool.  I have a real good friend that married the drummer of Rare Essense too. His name was Foots.

Hey i edited my last message and added a  link to an mp3 in case ya missed it.

Here's some trivia... one of the many sayings that they had (not just EU but go-go in general) was very popular... Fill in the blanks if you can...

"Shake it like a ----- ----"! Oh yeah! And I could too! LOL
