I wouldn't have learned about any of this stuff if no one complained. Same goes for program parents, some come on here thinking they've found a "safe" program because they can't find any complaints or abuse allegations. Truth is many abusive places slide under the radar, and then something horrible happens and everyone is shocked. I also believe that no matter when the abuse occurred the program responsible should be shutdown and held accountable for any harm caused. It's not right for any facility to abuse kids, deny it, and then go along it's merry way. Letting the issue go only shows abusers that they can get away with it, and chances are they'll do it again.
I don't know what can be done besides raising awareness, which is a great start. I'm still trying to get a grasp on what Elan was/is exactly, but what I have learned already seems bad. I wish I could offer some real suggestions beyond the obvious.
But yeah keep talking if you can, keeps folks educated...
