The last Nick Cave record I really liked was Murder Ballads.  I listened to The Boatman's Call, I think, the one after it, and it didn't really grab me like Murder Ballads did.  I liked it better t5han anything since Henry's Dream.   I'll see if I can get my buddy at Hyde & Zeke Records to play it for me next time I'm in there.

Someone turned me on to Prayers on Fire not long before I got put into "the program." I hate to mention that here, but it was (unfortunately) part of my life. Sometime during 5th phase, I purchased a copy of that album from that record store in Silver Spring; I had been impressed enough by what I heard years ago to buy it then.

When I copped out and just reached DC, whose pouty mug did I see staring at me from the front of an LP in that record store in Georgetown but 'ole blue eyes' himself. It was the Bad Seeds new release, From Her to Eternity. Of course I didn't buy it because I was still working on my (failed) attempt at getting up to Baltimore and the hell out of DC.

I always liked The Birthday Party.

It's probably more like Bad Seeds, not really much like Birthday Party.  "Get It On" is a great song, it should be all over the radio but the world ain't perfect.  "No Pussy Blues" speaks for itself, I guess.

It's really loose with a lot of fuzz bass going on, and Nick on Noise Guitar.  I was told it's Nick, anyway.

Murder Ballads is one of my all-time favorites, which could be seen as sick, I guess.  I've worked up a mean version of "Stagger Lee", though, all nasty with an even nastier riff.

Oh yeah, his version of "Stagger Lee" is the shit.......wicked powerful.  I like "Red Right Hand" on than one, and I still think it's funny Kylie Minogue does backing vox on the album.

Hot Tuna--Fillmore Auditorium, 12-30-1988 (early and late shows) on Wolfgang's Vault

I attended both of these shows, and they fucking shredded!  Good to hear such high-quality recordings of what were two of the best sets I've ever seen those guys play, and I've seen them about twenty times.  Awe inspiring.

Must've been pretty cool to hear something on there that you actually attended! Can't say I've had a similar experence other than hearing recordings of shows I've played, but those were all in fairly small clubs, churches, etc.

I hear Paul Westerberg is drinking again.  My step son saw him play a year or so ago and said he was sloppy drunk.  It was probably like a one man Replacement show.
