Was watching 12:00 pm news, and they took a camera shot above a gas station and the price this hess station was asaking for regular was either $5.07 or $5.87, I dont remember. I think it was near or at Atlanta G.A.

Unfucking believeable! In Europe they pay over $5.00 a gallon.

Yes, Katrina is the cause of the rising gas prices as of late.

The increased demand load worldwide and the inability to pump and refine enough oil to supply the load probally has more to do with rising oil future prices than anything Dubya is doing, no?

3.12 in western mass.  Read an article today in the local paper saying our reserves can sustain 25% of the worlds needs for 400 years.  Now i think its a given hybreds and hydrogen will be around way before then.  Why not bank on the reserves now and dominate the market, combustion is becoming outdated fast.  Another question for the think tanks out there.  why can gas stations raise prices 3 times in one day.  I can understand if they were buying more and getting the pump tanks filled 3 times a day at different prices to them.  But when their tanks are filled at a set cost and they change that price 3 times???? i dont get it but im in the wine biz, not gas.

As was previously stated, prices are based off of oil futures... lemme break it down for you:

The gas sitting in the stations tank is already bought and paid for. However, the price they are charging today is based off of the price it will cost them to buy it tomorrow... get it?

According to what I heard last night on the news was all stations have to by law raise the price, even if they purchased their fuel at a lower cost. Its a stupid law if you ask me.

I think the law has something to do with protecting all gas stations so that one does not make more money in a particular area resulting by offering lower prices.

I also heard today that the gas prices will drop in a few weeks, hopefully lower then $2.35 a gallon.

As of right now, I refuse to drive my truck. All summer long I was paying to fill up both tanks over $60.00, I'll be damned now if I have to pay over $100.00 to fill both tanks. Lucky for me my morotorcycle gets 49 mpg, but you cant do alot of shopping.

$50.00 this morning to fill up my "economy car," a Hyundai Sonata v6.  Ugh!

Going to have to fill the Expedition and the boat this weekend.  Looking forward to that...not.

I also own an old economy car which my moher gave to my wife and I, 91 Accord, 2 days ago I filled it up and it cost $34.00. Last summer $34.00 was around the price I paid to fill one of my pick up trucks, and it has 2 tanks. It usually costs $18.00 last year to fill the Honda.

I actually told my wife not to drive the Hummer anymore and just use the Honda for now on. She filled the Hummer the other day and it cost over $65.00. As far as filling my trucks, that is a write off for me because they are commercial vehicles, and what sucks even more 2 of them have to pull trailers.

As for my heavy machinery I use for digging foundations, they run on diesel, again, not break on diesel price. Back in 03 I was gonna buy a new pick up with a diesel engine in it, then I decided to go with 10 cylinder, don't bother even asking what kind of milege I get with it.

The diesel engines are great especially when towing. You get the same mileage towing as you do with no load but, oil changes consist of at least 11 qrts and cost over $65.00 depending on where you take it.

Every once and awhile I see a hybrid electric vehicle on the road and would laugh at the people driving them, but I guess they are laughing back at us now.

I don't know, if this is it, if this is the end for combustion, what are we to do? they gonna super duty electric hybrid pick up trucks? How abour hybrid excavatars? Man this really sucks.

If it keeps up, I'm gonna have to decide whether to make a bold descion for 2006 to all my existing costumers about raising the price of maintenace costs. I never raised my prices on any of them. Other companies do and they loose their customers.

Filling up 5 gallon gas tanks use to cost 5-7 bucks, now? It is over $14.00. I think this entire countrys economy needs an overhall. Mimium wage needs to be brought up to at least $10.00 an hour, everything needs to be overhauled period.

This situation is turning into and is worse then what it was like back in the 70's.

I think Dubya has bungled this from the start.  But a GOOD thing he could do is suspend the gasoline tax.  Conservatives would applaud him and motorists would be happy.  His ratings would probably improve.
