$3.04 to $3.15.  We are being robbed.  No way there's this much of a shortage.

$2.53 yesterday at 6:00am, $3.45 today at 6am.  Shoulda filled up yesterday.

All the prices are based on futures.  Even though the gas in their tanks is the same gas from yesterday, they base the price on what they have to pay today.

We cam all thank W for his masterful leadership and keen ability tp persuade our "allies" to "open up the tap for us."  What a crock of shit from a total moron.

Here in Welt Palm Beach yesterday was $2.79 a gallon for regular unleaded. This morning $3.04.

If only there were evil people somewhere, insidiously committing evil
deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?

The increased demand load worldwide and the inability to pump and refine enough oil to supply the load probally has more to do with rising oil future prices than anything Dubya is doing, no?

It's just some bastard putting another dollar in his pocket....The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

You never see animals going through the absurd and often horrible fooleries of magic and religion. Only man behaves with such gratuitous folly. It is the price he has to pay for being intelligent but not, as yet, intelligent enough.

Yes, but they were already way too high before and Bush did little to nothing.  The guy is a former Texas oilman!  He LOVES to see his friends in the oil industry get rich!  No way he's going to fuck with that.

Opening the reserves won't do much either.  Thank God Labor Day will soon be over and travel will be down.

Oh, definitely.  He's not doing a damn thing either way: nothing to increase supply nor reduce demand.  He's a complete lame duck on policy.

I was taking a stab at his campaign platform/promises from the last election.

"Mr. President, what will you do in your second term to address the rising price of fossil fuels?"

"I'll talk to our good friends, our allies, and convince them to open up the tap for us."

Fine job, Georgie.

Now hold up a sec everyone! This latest increase on gas has nothing to do with the above mentioned, you can blame Katrina an all of the rcent increases.

They say that they can.t produce enough or any fuel at this time due to the damge the storm has done.

This is my main reason for donating an excavator and a few employees , to help out in the sid of clean up. We can all play a small role in it, from donations to donating services and or goods.

This storm is crippling our economy in a major way. Now Bush on the other hand IS going to release the emergency supply of oil/gas, it was all over the news late yesterday afternoon.

But as far as the latest increases at the pump, no one is to blame except the storm.

Fact: gas companies have to raise the prices at the pumps if the demand warrants it. It is a law in most states, don't ask me why, but it is stupid. They had yesterday a station on the NJTP that remained lower priced but where warned a fine if they did not comply wit the new prices, again, stupid thing, but its a reality.

I'm sorry, your statement does not make sense to me. The only person who can reduce our demand is each one of us, the President of the United States does not control foreign demand or national consumption. Increasing our supply would mean drilling, (no new oil has been drilled for over 25 years due to environmental restrictions) either here or in occupied territory
A hydrogen, nuclear, wind, or solar economy is not the answer, as they are either infeasable or create larger problems...

I'm sorry, but as bush asked kerry last election
do you have any better ideas of your own?

Did anyone know there is a tax on gas?
However, the tax is a percentage and not a fixed number...
If gas costs $1 per gallon, the government tacks 12% on, 1.12 for a .12 cent profit
If gas rises to $3 per gallon, the government jacks it up to .36 cents per gallon, making gas cost 3.36...

anyone been calling their congressman about this? or we just gonna sit here acknowledging that yes, gas prices are high...

Read this and then tell me if only the storm is to blame...?

Pink, there is a thing called "cafe standards" which requires vehicles to achieve a certain amount of MPG based on size and weight.

Bush has unilaterally dismissed cafe standards, which would greatly curb demand.  Don't forget the $14 billion giveaway to oil companies in the so-called energy bill.  I guess the record-breaking profits aren't enough for oilmen like Dubya and Dick.

When you have oilmen setting policy on energy, you can bet that tight supplies and high demand will be encouraged.
