The Troubled Teen Industry / Have you rescued a kid from a program?
« on: July 20, 2005, 06:16:00 AM »
The best way to rescue a child is to convince the parent that there are safer, less drastic measures to take (like an acute care facility or an out patient program)

It may be that our role on this planet is not to worship God, but to create him.

Bob Lichfield did get his start at Provo Canyon School. He was the director of residential living. He also met one of his associate there. He has no formal training - but used PCS as a model for his programs. They use similar punishments of prolonged isolation, siting in chairs for long periods of time to work off points and a level system. They both discourage parental contact for many weeks and rare calls home are monitored.  There are many similarities. Provo Canyon School came into exhistance in the 1970's and WWASP in the 1990's.

The more corrupt the state, the more numerous the laws.

Most lawmakers are aware that every letter represents about 1000 people. This petition is good even though it's not overwhelming.  It need not be.  This is still a topic that most people are unaware of. It is getting some media attention. Most of the people on this site have been harmed in some way by this industry.  George Miller has really done more to help the cause than any other lawmaker.  He deserves our support in the form of petitions, letters and so forth.

The bible teaches that woman brought sin and death into the world, that she precipitated the fall of the race, that she was arraigned before the judgment seat of Heaven, tried, condemned and sentenced. Marriage for her was to be a condition of bondage, maternity a period of suffering and anguish, and in silence and subjection, she was to play the role of a dependent on man's bounty for all her material wants, and for all the information she might desire...Here is the Bible position of woman briefly summed up.

The Troubled Teen Industry / BRAT CAMP AIRING TODAY? 6/13??

Another thought - this program COULD be a way to inform the public about the dangers of these programs and educate the public or make it a more newsworthy issue.

Laws are like spider webs. If some poor weak creature comes up against them - it is caught. But the bigger one can break through and get away.

The Troubled Teen Industry / BRAT CAMP AIRING TODAY? 6/13??
« on: June 18, 2005, 01:56:00 AM »
From the adds it looks like they show the kids before the program to gain the sympathy of the viewing audience.  They try to show how bratty and rebellious they are so that the audience will appreciate the rough treatment they receive. It looks like just another way to make money.  Does anyone know what organization allows this program?  It's almost like a survivor type program. Pretty soon there may actually be teens who want to be on the program and will endur the hardships just to be on National Television.  This is pure exploitation.

It was an excellent article but takes a good 1/2 hour or more to read.

The Troubled Teen Industry / casa by the sea mixed opinions
« on: June 18, 2005, 01:49:00 AM »
From what I understand they found out about it after the fact and got her out.  It just makes me wonder how many parents are fooled into believing that these WWASP programs are actual boarding schools. Perhaps they were looking at price and something close to home.  My daughter talked to the parents about it and her mom started to cry - I guess they feel bad that they sent her there.  But this girl is really sweet and wholesome and it's hard to believe that a place like Casa would take her - apparently they will take any child whose parents can pay for the program.  I did a search for boarding schools teens and the WWASP sites were numerous.  When you go to the site and click on "boarding school" all of the programs including Tranquility Bay appear.  I can see where some naive parents could do something like that.  Anyway, this girl is very protective of the program and staff.

The Troubled Teen Industry / casa by the sea mixed opinions
« on: June 17, 2005, 07:52:00 PM »
My daughter has a new friend who went to Casa By the Sea. I started questioning her and she had nothing but praise for the program. She said that is saved many people's lives. I told her that is was closed for child abuse and she indicated that she had never seen anything like that while she was there. She did say they spend a lot of time sitting in chairs. It seems like she has repressed a lot of it.  I think they must brainwash everyone into thinking that it saved their lives because she kept talking about that - how it saved so many lives. She was not a problem teen - her parents actually thought that Casa was a boarding school.
