What type of music do you have on when you're having sex?

I like a lot of the old Motown grooves myself...

Whatever the girl happens to be listening to, if anything...

Once this girl was playing Blondie while we were doing it; I liked that.

Indeed!  It was going through my head as I drove over to break up with a girl I had dated for quite a while, but there was no sex.  I drove away listening to J Mascis' "Freedom".

Favorite music for sex?  Um...King Crimson's Red, Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music, or Big Black's Songs About Fucking, preferably all three playing on repeat, because I'm going for the full-on, custom deluxe sexperience.

Actually, it sounds wimpy but Sarah McLachlan's Fumbling Toward Ecstasy has an erotic vibe to it, and Peter Gabriel's soundtrack to the Last Temptation of Christ is good for the swerve.

"No Pussy Blues" by Grinderman.

My face is finished, my body's gone.
And I can't help but think standin' up here in all this applause and gazin' down at all the young and the beautiful.
With their questioning eyes.
That I must above all things love myself.

I saw a girl in the crowd,
I ran over I shouted out,
I asked if I could take her out,
But she said that she didn't want to.

I changed the sheets on my bed,
I combed the hairs across my head,
I sucked in my gut and still she said
That she just didn't want to.

I read her Eliot, read her Yeats,
I tried my best to stay up late,
I fixed the hinges on her gate,
But still she just never wanted to.

I bought her a dozen snow-white doves,
I did her dishes in rubber gloves,
I called her Honeybee, I called her Love,
But she just still didn't want to. She just never wants to.

(DAMMIT!)

I sent her every type of flower,
I played her guitar by the hour,
I patted her revolting little chihuahua,
But still she just didn't want to.

I wrote a song with a hundred lines,
I picked a bunch of dandelions,
I walked her through the trembling pines,
But she just even then didn't want to. She just never wants to.

I thought I'd try another tack,
I drank a litre of cognac,
I threw her down upon her back,
But she just laughed and said that she just didn't want to.

I thought I'd have another go,
I called her mah little O,
I felt like Marcel Marceau
must feel when she said that she just never wanted to. She just didn't want to.

I got the no pussy blues.

Ahhh... Lovely tunes from JB
A couple of years ago, I was visiting friends on vacation, feeling a little low over an impending break up... I really needed to cut lose and dance, so my friends decide to put on a little inspirational music.   This drippy voice comes on over the loudspeakers, and I'm like, Turn this shit off. I need some happy tunes.  They all looked at eachother and smiled. Did you heard the lyrics, they asked?  Nope.... Smiling simultaneously, they said, let us serenade you... you might feel a little differently after this song is over....

So, they hit Repeat and they all start singing, miming the words as they go along... and here is what they sang:

This is a song for the ladies
But fellas listen close.

You don’t always have to fuck her hard
In fact sometimes that’s not right to do
Sometimes you gotta make some love
And fuckin give her some smooches too.
Sometimes you got to squeeze,
Sometime you got to say please
Sometimes you got to say hey,
I’m gonna fuck you softly,
I’m gonna screw you gently,
I’m gonna hump you sweetly,
I’m ball you discreetly.

Then you say hey I bought you flowers
Then you say wait a minute Sally
I think I got something in my teeth
Could you get it out for me?
That’s what i call TEAMWORK.
What’s your favorite position?
That’s cool with me
It’s not my favorite but I’ll do it for you.
What your favorite dish?
I’m not gonna cook it but
I’ll order it from Zanzibar.
Then I’m gonna love you completely,
Then I fuckin fuck you discreetly.
Then I fuckin bone you completely
But then I’m gonna fuck you hard.
Hard.

I gotta say, the memory of these friends singing this song to me, loud and proud, accompanied by a some very inspired interpretive dance, makes me smile to myself to this day.  At this time, I did not want any romantic sappy songs, and nothing made me feel better than a totally crass, fuck me direct, Jack Black song.

Well, it certainly put me in a good mood...and I'm a sweet girl. More or less. Sometimes you just gotta be unsentimental. And, hey, it was a love song... kinda!  It involved compromise and team work!

I advise you to download it so you can listen to it.   It starts off kinda drippy but then goes up tempo... and the last line becomes a very, very enthusiastic promise.

I think I made them play it a million times. That and some punk version of Grease's You're the One that I Want.   I forget which punk band.

Anyway, whenever someone needs a lift from a break up, I always say, screw sap and Ben and Jerry's.   Get your ass straight to an adrenaline pumped action film (the only time I like those) and listen to Punk.  You can always get over it later.

Oh, I'm a JB/KG D fan from way back.

I agree on the punk thing, too.  "Tomarrow She Goes Away (I Can't Wait)" by the Ramones does it for me....

I love Patti Smith's vox on this song..
What a beautiful voice she has!

Take me now baby here as I am
Pull me close, try and understand
Desire is hunger is the fire I breathe
Love is a banquet on which we feed

Come on now try and understand
The way I feel when I'm in your hands
Take my hand come undercover
They can't hurt you now,
Can't hurt you now, can't hurt you now

Because the night belongs to lovers
Because the night belongs to lust
Because the night belongs to lovers
Because the night belongs to us

Have I doubt when I'm alone
Love is a ring, the telephone
Love is an angel disguised as lust
Here in our bed until the morning comes

Come on now try and understand
The way I feel under your command
Take my hand as the sun descends
They can't touch you now,
Can't touch you now, can't touch you now

Because the night belongs to lovers ...

With love we sleep
With doubt the vicious circle
Turn and burns
Without you oh I cannot live
Forgive the yearning burning
I believe it's time, too real to feel
So touch me now, touch me now, touch me now

Because the night belongs to lovers ...

Because tonight there are two lovers
If we believe in the night we trust
Because the night belongs to lovers
Because the night belongs to lust .. etc
