"Stop breaking down" Robert Johnson
"That's my number" Toots and the Maytals

Yep, the Stones got that one from Robert Johnson..Exile on Main Street credits it with "trad. arr by Jagger-Richards," but I'm thinking that Robert Johnson actually authored that "traditional" song himself... just a guess....

I love Toots and the Maytals, and lots of other reggae..

Hey ZA, what Pretty Things releases would you recommend?  I've heard a fair number of their songs on Underground Garage satellite radio, and like what I've heard.  I know them vaguely as being kind of post-psychedlic, pre-glitter punk, and from the lyrical content and what little I've read about them, they were definitely into drugs (which scores points with me, I like my rock and roll musicians, and jazz musicians, and country musicians, hell, throw in classical composers, too, fucked up.  )    I first heard of them from the Bowie album Pin-ups, on which he covered their song, "Rosalyn".    What would you consider the essentail Pretty Things releases?  Thanks.

I may not be a famous musician, but I got the fucked up part down.  "Rosalyn"...I kinda hate that song, I don't know why.  S.F. Sorrow is a good one to get, it was the first real concept album.  Parachute is fucking great. I've got this Pretty Things import called The Psychedelic Years 1966-1970.  It's a two disc set and the first disc is the Pretty Things, but the second one got fucked up at the plant...it comes up as sixty tracks, all of some feeb noodling on a MIDI rig.  Kinda like when I worked at Waxie Maxie's back in the day, an old woman came in shaking a Lawrence Welk CD in my face, all pissed off, saying "I don't know who's on this CD, but it isn't Lawrence Welk!"  We put it on, it was Sid Vicious' "Sid Sings".  Wish I had kept it, I hear it's worth a fortune.

But yeah, get S.F. Sorrow or Parachute first, and maybe work back to Emotions.  I stay away from the pre-1966 shit, but it is naztier and noisier than the Stones of that era.

Yeah it's good music that you don't have to pay too much attention to; in other words, it's interesting background music...

Yesterday I also listened to: The Rolling Stones - Their Satanic Majesties Request

A pretty cool flick, all in all.

Good stuff!  Sounds great when you listen to it while high on drugs, too.  I suggest you try listening to it that way sometime soon.
