The Cult - Love

Didn't know you liked The Cult, Frod.......I gained a fondness for them back in the 80s, when I sold a bunch of Ecstasy to these big Cult fans.  That's a great record.

Well I didn't know I liked them either until i listened to it again, lol. Funny how things can go that way on a second (or 3rd, etc) listen...
Could have done without the bonus tracks, but that's usually a given..

Hmm...we've got a lot of players here.  If things get going in D.C. we should put together a band called the Fornitscators, or Old Troubled Teens (like Muddy Waters said, I'm a MAN, chile...well past twenty-one...) and play the Capital.

We could do some tunes off Zen Arcade, assorted other relevant tunes like "Amphetamines and Coffee"(Afghan Whigs version), then close with an apocalyptic, balls-out take on "Final Solution" by Pere Ubu.

Wait, no...we could call ourselves Sue Scheff's Dirty Red Knickers...or Izzy and the ST-ooges...

Syd Barrett - The Madcap Laughs

The first time I heard Syd's solo albums, I was very wasted, and the line "Please close our eyes to the octopus rise," seemed terrifying.  Kinda still does...

How 'bout "Souix Chef's Funeral", or maybe "Souix Chef TMJ" (touched my junk), or "The Miller Newton Orchestra"?

Damn, when I saw Pere Ubu open for the Pixies, back in '91 or '92, they played "Final Solution" and fucking tore it up......Dave "Crocus Behemoth" Thomas even danced a Charleston-esque number as he sang.  Tony Maimone and Eric Drew Feldman (from Beefheart's Magic Band) were in that particular incarnation of Pere Ubu, and they completely upstaged the Pixies that night.   I wish I had seen Pere Ubu a dozen  or more times, they were amazing.  Avant-Garage, indeed.........

"Final Solution" is a motherfucker.  Pere Ubu's version is the best.  The Rocket From the Tombs version is pretty good with Peter Laughner singing.  Even Living Colour covered it.

I saw Cheetah Chrome play it when he opened for the Dictators, it was cool but Cheetah's drummer was mad fucked up and couldn't even hold his sticks.  Dictators rocked like Mongolian shit farmers on speed.  Handsome Dick is Legend.  Anyone been to his bar, Manitoba's, in NY?

Yeah, he's great! I've got some of his stuff...those song titles sound familiar, think I'll try and dig that tape out.
