iS IT true that some of these treatment facilities will detain teens past the age of 18 years? Which centers? For how long past the age of 18? MY sister-in law is having difficulties with her unruy 17 years old son. But he will be turning 18 May 24.

What was done with the seed saved from the India Hemp last summer? It ought, all of it, to have been sewn again; that not only a stock of seed sufficient for my own purposes might have been raised, but to have disseminated the seed to others; as it is more valuable than the common Hemp.

And now the liberals want to stop President Reagan from selling chemical warfare agents and military equipment to Saddam Hussein and why? Because Saddam 'allegedly' gassed a few Kurds in his own country. Mark my words. All of this talk of Saddam Hussein being a 'war criminal' or 'committing crimes against humanity' is the same old thing. LIBERAL HATE SPEECH! and speaking of poison gas... Judgemental to their plight?

They want help to kidnap and keep captive a child who is about to be legally emancipated. THAT IS KIDNAPPING. Plight my fucking ass.

I'd wager 98% of the kids in thne programs need NO help at all and half of that 2% dont need PROGRAM help. Any idiot parent can send a kid off if they have money and sign off on it.

Unruly is vague and meaningless. If its just becuase he has a mouth, tough shit, you cant send your kid off to torture camp to get broken, and if hes about to turn 18, and you want to kidnap an adult, fuck them and fuck YOU.

Sometimes there are situations when it is necessary to have a legal ault in a controlled enviroment. Even lock down facilties if you will. Say for instance there is a teen threating to pull a melendez brothers masacre. If that teen is 18 are we just gonna this regard his/her threats? If you do not know the scefics of their plight you can not judge. Should we let Osama Bin laden get away with global terrorism because he is of legal age? You can make a blanket statement like that Nilolantic!

I have seen no indication this kid needs real treatment, just vague statements from an anonymous poster. WTF does 'unruly' mean? Potentially anything, or nothing at all!

I'm sure there ARE cases where adults need it. All I'm saying is PROVE THAT THERE IS A NEED FIRST. Not just some uneducated assumption for locking up said kid. How about a real medical professional? That would be a good start.

People over-use programs, BIG TIME. Demonstrate the necessity, and then demonstrate the facility in mind is nonabusive, and also, actually therapeutic, and I'll be for it. But, seeing as no necessity has been demonstrated, why would I support a kid getting sent off to a more than likely abusive program or kidnapped as an adult? Unless hes insane and ACTUALLY A DANGER he doesnt belong anywhere.

Furthermore, if there is some teen threatening a melendez brothers massacre, GET A REAL DOC. Not a fucking program. More than likely hes just saying it anyway.

And that statement about OBL and legal age is such bullshit. OBL actually did something and hes a threat so he should be caught or killed, DUH. I dont see this 'unruly' kid an actual danger to anyone because of the incredibly vague statement about him from the anonymous poster.

And its NIHILANTHIC. Copypaste if you cant spell.

I m the person who started this topic. My Sister-In Law's 17 years old son has dropped his grades from from A to B AND has been missing his curfew by at least 3 hours. Curfew is 7:30 on Weekdays/school nights 8:30 on weekends/holidays.He has returned home from hanging out with his friends smelling like alcohol and we are concerned this is opening Pandora's box as far as things he could potentialy get into. I do agree that were some judgemental responses to my question. So I have given more insight. There is more reason to say I was too vague.

Well since you put it that way.. Lets see what can be done......

Purchase a rack, a whip and large quantities of salt.

I would suggest 10 lashes for each letter drop in grades, and 3 lashes for each hour past curfew. If this does not seem to work then you will need to begin rubbing salt into the wounds until a proper comprise is made.

To the Anon who is worried about their sister-in laws son, may I suggest getting a 'Youth at risk' petition filed with juvenile court.  That way it's up to him to get into trouble, and then suffer the consequences of being sent to juvenile hall.  But please never send them away to those hell holes like CEDU.  
I would use the youth at risk as a last resort only.  Talking with him is very important before taking this step.  Grades slipping from A's to B's is at least still doing pretty darn good.  And a 7:30 & 8:30 curfews for a 17 year old is asking for trouble. I think it's time to allow him a little freedom.  See if he takes the responsibilty.  But again, don't consider having him locked up, taken away, not allowed any contact with the family and be subject to behavior modification torture, just because he's growing up.

The curfews are stupid and yeah, they're asking for trouble. Unrealistic restrictions are an open invitation for defiance.
