As stupid as it sounds, she saw through my shit.  That was the turnaround point for me.  I had my major guilt kept as a 2 year resident in a Chief position.  If she didn`t play hardball with my ass, then I wouldn`t be the person I am today.  She challenged the fuck out of me the most. I wanted to be like her when I became older, but if anything, I just want to emulate her strength.  People hate her, people love her.  I get angry too about Elan, but it`s the past people, now it`s up to you to keep it together.

Believe me, I was there for 3 years `n I tried so hard to fake it until I made it, but was caught.  I agree some staff are manipulative `n have gotten extremely comfortable in their positions of power.  But there are some who bust their ass for us.. .Clare was one of them.  We weren`t close, by no means not at all, but I respect her nonetheless.

During the restructuring of our house `n when all the guilt was coming down, she was sleeping over `n coming in early in the morning.  She put her personal life on hold `n worked day in `n day out to get the house together again.

I don`t need negative comments, I know them all.  But for now, since its the holidays, thinking of the better times is easier. As I said, I had my shitty times too.. .I don`t judge you, so don`t try judging me.

Clare is what is she is to you. I did not get to see her to much, but if she gave you strength and hope, there is nothing more you could ask. Your right, others might hate her and have bad things to say about her, but none of it should matter to you, she gave you something no one can take away with bad words. There were staff I hated at times, but some like Hiram, terri and Tanya gave me insight and strength I still use today. Elan was a messed up place, and trust me there were a lot of negative things going on while I was there, but your experience was different, keep that with you always.

i can tell you this...if anyone was there to challeng me, it would be Clare. Marc R. started out as my staff member, and Clare didnt even notice I was in the house, but when I started to show a little interest in myself, she did the same. She then took over as my staff to facilitate meetings with my family. I will never forget how much she challenged me as a person. She was not willing to except me as a bullshit artist. She helped me see what it was I was working on, helped me work through it and helped me move on. I was her coordinator a few times. She ran a few of my GMs and shot me down quite a few times, but trust me, none of those were for no reason. I was a punk, and learned quite a bit. I guess my era was a bit different than those before us, and those after us. There as maybe 2 three house GMs in my time, right Mandy? It sounds like after our era was over, you guys had a hell of a lot to deal with. I will never forget CLare, Marc, Drew, Marian and Jenn H. All of whom had a great hand in who I am today!!!!

I liked Clare, she was very down to earth. Clare, Jenn H and missy made living at elan so much easier.[ This Message was edited by: MarenD on 2004-12-31 01:21 ]

i never had the opportunity to get to know Missy, she was at 3 when I was there, but Jenn H and Clare are two very strong women that I still talk to today. They are so much more cool when they are your friends, not your staff

Missy is really cool. She dresses like a bum. She always has an undershirt hanging out of somewhere. Un-combed hair and work boots. It is just the way she feels comfortable. She is a very caring and kind person. I have never heard a bad word about her. What a sweetheart.
This kid Fred who SP'd one of our visits heard that when she applied for the job, she showed up in a pink business suit. That would be a sight to see!
