What happened to these cedu staff?
« on: October 06, 2004, 11:26:00 AM »
I was at Cedu from 1991-1993 and am wondering about some of the staff and whatever happened to them. Specifically, Joel (was the drama guy), Rob (science teacher), the really nice lady who was with cedu high school then moved to the middle school- I don't remember her name, but she's the one who taught everyone to crochet, Art the Spanish teacher who left while I was there, John Liederbach-Vega, and Don (came same time as Rob, but left while I was there). They were really nice- I doubt that they lasted at the school very long (in fact, as you can tell, some left while I was still there!). Someone mentioned Bruce Boslough in another post- I remember him- he was nice. So was Dennis (ran the music camp down the road in addition to working at cedu). Are they still around? It's sad how people can be so nice when they start working there and turn into such horrible people. They're led into believing that they are doing something good for these kids- they end up being programmed into the cult just as much as we were. They fear the authority and what might happen if ...g-d forbid....they say the name of some forbidden rock group. What a place.

Wigil, I remember all those people.  I was there from 1990-1992.  But I don't remember you?  I was the guy who played piano all day long when I wasn't reading, playing guitar, or smoking up in my dorm.

I was Vicki. Was in the peer group with Malia, Stephanie, Dave, James, Hannah, Pam, etc. I kind of remember your name. I cried all the time and was ALWAYS in trouble for stuff I didn't do. (my life would have been a lot better if I had just done the stuff they were accusing me of- maybe I would have had some fun!)[ This Message was edited by: vvigil on 2004-10-07 06:05 ]

I remember you Vicki.  Dark brown hair, sad eyes, and beautiful.  I'm glad you're doing all right.  I remember all those other people too.  I was I think 2 groups ahead of you.  Sean Daly, Jeff Davis, John Brogan.  Remember I got busted for having cigarettes, and radios, and food in my dorm?  Take care.  I'm sure you remember Rodney right?

I remember your peer group. Quite the interesting bunch. Sometimes I have difficulty remembering people- its kind of blocked out of my head. But I now remember Rodney.
Funny- it seems like most of the people on these sites are more recent grads. Always interesting to hear from people who were there at the same time as me.
I'm still surprised we all made it out of there alive, given the circumstances. Wasn't it your peer group where someone (not naming names) stole beer from the store in town (while they were working there). And then 2 or 3 girls got high during the summit???

It was pretty funny.  He got busted stealing beer for me, and then I ran his fulltime as he never ratted me out!  Of course, I was pretty lenient with him!  As far as the 2 girls in the Summit, I don't remember that.  I remember one girl coming back from her home visit high on LSD, but that's about it.

I remember all of the people you and vicki mentioned.  Hey do you remember the one guy from your peer group Justin, who split during the I & ME? We never heard from him again!  Do you remember what it was that set Justin off and made him split like that?  :???: Details please!

Yes,  as you know, Justin, Jeff, Sean, John, and I had set-up an underground network where Sean had a job in town and we all took turns sneaking out every night for supplies.  Well, Justin was talking shit and we almost got into a fight over ego shit, since me and Sean pretty much were in charge of the whole thing and I told him to please just split.  And he did-  right in the middle of the I+Me.  It was crazy.

How in the holy guacamole did you manage an underground? I was there in 1987 and I can't see how one could even operate with all the bullies, spies, and overseers.  Everyone always seemed to cop out so you never wanted to do anything to get in trouble.

Were the boys just better at bullshitting or what?
Or was I just clueless and there really were undergrounds when I was there?

In general, were the boys less likely to "tattle"
than girls? It seems to me girls always got caught even if they DIDN'T do anything.

Man, I need a margarita just thinking about all the possibilities I missed! And guacamole. With chips.

Hey Felsher do you ever hang out in Hermosa/Redondo/Manhattan?

Bryan and the rest of the brotherhood were in Source Peer Group, They Were the bullies, the spys, and the supervisors!  The brotherhood all lived together in older student dorms, which were off limits to all other students except themselves.

I for one, am still hurt by the fact that the brotherhood never invited me to join. I was friends with all of those guys, but I didn't know a thing until Bryan and the rest of them got busted!   Thanks a lot, Guys.

Sorry man! Like you said, yes it was only for us "older students" who could get away with it more easily.

I don't believe these undergrounds existed to such an involved extent as we had it in the "Brotherhood."  We were just lucky.  Its a long story how it formed but basically one day, when I had been there about 18 months I walked up to Jeff Davis in the dorms and handed him a piece of food I stole from the kitchen and said," Fucking eat it!!" (you're not allowed to eat in the dorms).

After a little intimidation, he ate it and the brotherhood was formed.  We snuck out every night, and did whatever we wanted.  We requested eachother for every rap and blew people away, while laughing about our con in our dorms over a smoke.  We felt bad about being  hypocrites, but we figured it was about our sanity.

Oh, yeah- Shanlea, yes I used to hang out in Hermosa, Redondo, Manhattan quite a bit.  In fact, I lived on 2nd and PCH right by the "Pitcher House."

Wow about your friend and the I&me!
Wow about managing an underground!
Laura, I think there was no underground when I was at RMA. It just seems unthinkable to me what BF is talking about. I would never have had the fortitude. I was absolutely terrified and bought in by the time my I/Me rolled around. It really would have been unthinkable. I am jelous. I wanted to just slide by. I enjoyed almost nada there. BTW we were pretty FAR from signs of civilization where we were. Worked beautifully for program. That shows planning.
The Wankers.

Bryan, my Dad had an office at King Harbor Marina.  Then Manhattan Beach. Spent a lot of time in RB, HB, and MB.  I miss rollerskating on the strand and the RB Pier for Japanese Food and the Tilt - A - Whirl.  Sorry I'm talking beaches when we're supposed to talk CEDU--I'm having nostalgia after being in this uptight state out East.

SOS: Check your PM about school.

The Underground
« Reply #14 on: July 18, 2007, 04:46:20 PM »
Absolutely mind boggling that something like this was formed.

I was Jeff Davis' Dormhead for a while and knew him pretty well.

I spoke with Justin (I believe Barney) after he split and he had told me about the underground too.

Those things just did not exist (perhaps with 2 people) but with a full group? No way. Not from 88-91 at least.

I am still looking for Kevin Wagner if anyone has heard from him...
