do children have rights-my comments on recent news

history:  up until recent history (1980s), a man could beat his wife, as long as he didn't beat her to death or put her in the hospital.  i suspect in some cases even now, that is still true by practice but not by policy (law). now he cannot "legally" do that.  my next example would be to the "black movement", but for sake of argument, i need not go there.  so i ask the reader to turn thoughts for a moment about the woman's and the black people's movement and when and whether they have rights to whether our children (future of humanity) have rights.
here is some fresh news from Jordan (Jordan,  your work is very important and very (note worthy emotocon)

The courts seem to believe that whipping a child is considered "dicipline". Have we come full circle on this? Our parents whipped us but with new understanding of the long term effects of physical violence, whipping was labeled abuse.  So why is it now the courts are siding with the parents who use physical violence to "handle" they're children? Judge Rex Stacy of Apple Valley MN. recently said in open court when told that the Father of a teenage girl used the belt on her, " a Father has the right to dicipline his daughter". These are the judges in our family courts making decision which could very well shape our society to come!

Because it takes a very long time for new cultural norms to become widely adopted. We don't throw the baby out with the bath water; we take it case by case and let a jury of our peers decide each one.

Now then, if we could get the courts freed up from deciding cases of all the bullshit legislation, maybe we could return to a state of events where every defendant can actually expect a fair, meaningful and relatively speedy trial.

We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately.
-- Ben Franklin At the signing of the Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776.
