No shit, there's massive corruption in South America. There's violence in the urban areas of South America and quite frankly, I don't think it's very different from the urban areas in the States. The difference is that the US government has been invading a space that doesn't belong to them, by declaring war on Iraq, killing thousands of civilians on Iraq and Afghanistan.  Have you noticed how many protests throughout the World, United States included, against Bush and the war??? By the way, how did Bush win the elections???? I still remember that scandal. How can a country with a technology as high as the US not use eletronic devices for voting? I'll tell you why: corruption. So, we are even. No, I'm not saying it's the same shit, but Corruption exists everywhere: It exists in South America, it exists in the US and it exists in the rest of the world. It's a fact.

As far as Brazil goes, your dear government wants to declare the Amazon forest an "international zone", which would transform our most important natural/economic resource into "no one's land", so in that way, they'd legalize the exploitation that they've been doing for decades.

Anyways, my point is, maybe you like your president. I don't. If you travel abroad, ask anyone and they'll have the same opinion. Maybe it's just me, but I'm under the impression that most American citizens that actually care for politics tend to dislike Bush as well.

Your definately entitled to your opinion and I respect that. I never said I liked Bush, and as far as the election goes, Gore was just unwilling to admit defeat. I travel abroad frequently, personally I get sick of the way people turn their noses up at Americans. France Germany etc.....yeah our government is far from perfect but it works better than most other places. Our tax dollars go all over the world to feed and protect other nations so they can bad mouth Americans that is their choice. And as far as Iraq and Afganistan goes...well I served and what you watch in your liberal media...is far from what is really going on there. They dont show you the people that appretiate being freed from opression only the very few that wanted it to continue the way it was so they could continue to rape and pillage. I still have very close friends there so please do your home work befor you start with me on the whole Afgan, Iraq thing.

Rick James should be president.  Drugs and prostitution would be legalized and heavily regulated thereby wiping out all kinds of crime.

The fact that he can't put two sentences together shouldn't matter -- neither can Dubya.

Dear Mr. Patriot,

I never once referred to Brazil as a non-corrupt government. I'm very well aware of what goes on in my country, believe me. The only difference is Brazil doesn't declare war on other countries over oil. I've seen the pictures of lots of civilians that were killed by your government in both Iraq and Afhganistan. What's curious about it it's that the magazines were American.

What opression are you referring to, Bush's or Saddam's? Why is that the whole world is talking about no sufficient evidence of chemical weapons in Iraq? (If you were there, maybe you could enlight me). I'm sorry, Mr. Patriot, but I did my homework, I've read way too many articles on this fucking war and for some strange reason, the whole world seems to think that the chemical weapons were just a lame excuse to invade Iraq and take possesion of the oil. Maybe the world hasn't done its homework.

If I'm entitled to have an opinion like you said, please debate this on a rather respectful manner cause I'm getting the feeling that you're not. I don't even know how this discussion has been getting so political, maybe it's my fault and I do apologize. Let's just drop it cause this is not really getting anywhere. I do respect the fact that you've served and all so maybe you see this entire situation from a different perspective, but I read the paper everyday, I too have done a lot of travelling (including the five years that I've spent living in the States), I watch the news (not just the Brazilian) and I'm very entitled to disagree with you.

So Pete... Are you in favour of legalizing drugs and prostitution? Have you been to Amsterdam? It's pretty cool over there.

Peace!

Ummmm... I read the New York Post (conservative), the Daily News (neutral) and the New York Times (liberal) on a regular basis.  Out of all those papers, the Post seems the most wacked.  But I respect some of their coverage.  They have cojones... I'll say that much.

However, the bastion of conservative journalism, The Washington Times, is owned by the News World Communications, a front name for the Moonies.  Between this, Straight and Amway, the Republicans just support too much crap.  And they say Howard Stern poisons minds?

Marina, yes, my mother lived in Amsterdam for two years and I visited her there twice.  However, I gave up drugs a long time ago and I was in a long-term relationship both times, so I didn't experience much of the ummm... counterculture... ha ha... (although that sex museum was hysterical).   The biggest crime I worried about was being pickpocketed.  Legalizing the previously mentioned industries would do wonders for the American economy (taxes, safety issues, etc.) and deal a blow to the issues of enslavement, murder and other horrible crimes.

To the others, Chappelle is damn funny, any way you slice it.  But yes, the R. Kelly thing in the first year was the funniest.

Most news papers by in large are owned by liberal media outlets...Like I said propaganda the kind of crap Hillary, fat drunk Chappaquiddick Teddy Kennedy and James Carvel and the rest of the communist bunch
would like you to believe. And the worst offender of them all CNN (Clinton News Network) Owned by that excentric fuck Ted Turner who has no buisness even being a US Citizen. Fox News yep atleast it is balanced reporting more so tham the rest. Howar d Stern...entertainment twisted at times but yet entertaining.

There's a huge difference between a Bush hater and an America hater. I'm a Bush hater, by all means, just like a lot of Americans. And I'm a peace lover!

Yes Pete, it'd be really cool If we could have the prostitutes and the drug industry pay taxes and work like regular citizens the same way they do in Amsterdam. I must admitt that it's much easier to administrate the situation and keep it under control in a country as small as Holland as opposed to big countries such as Brazil and the States. However, that would possibly put an end to all the violence and corruption related to the narco-traffic as well as prostitution. I don't believe today's society is quite ready for it, but If we think long-term, it's quite possible. What's your opinion?

Peace!

Well, we're not ready for a full-scale legalization -- not with all the trafficking of cocaine, heroin, etc.  If we started with marijuana (made it some really good quality bud -- ha ha) and sanctioned certain types, nobody would feel the need to smuggle or risk going to jail.  We wouldn't have to say marijuana is "good" or "safe" -- because we all know it damages your lungs and kills your brain cells in large quantities.  We would advocate responsibility -- like the liquor industry.

Prostitution should be regulated to one-person small businesses with laws about protection, etc.
