Look, you guys, this is what it's all about.
http://www.foxglovetheatre.org/season/s ... -notes.htmPeople can get their own stories out, without being cut off, censored or otherwise sat down. They sometimes put their heads together with authors, playrights, journalists, lawyers, legislators and other people of influence and actually get up off their dead asses and
do something that might actually have an impact on the problem. I think we could do without the group confrontations, too.
Soon as I'm done here, I'm going to take the liberty as administrator of changing the topic of this thread to something more in line with my role in this discussion.
As administrator, I keep the server up and, hopefully, take care of bug fixes and improvements to the software to the satisfaction of all who care about such things. I'm not using admin access to handle this current problem. It's not for me to dictate with authority what you folks want to say to eachother or to the world. That's not my gig as a site admin. I have dominion and responsibility over machines and software, not over you.
I do see the recent flame wars as a problem, though. But it's not a technical problem so I won't approach it with technical solutions. It's been a close call a couple of times lately. And I hate that shit! (bad shit, Don, you know it when you see it
In this conversation, I'm not an administrator. In fact, I'm the evil anti-admin, if you think about it. I'm a muck racker! Muck raking has always had a bad rap. It doesn't take a lot of brains, it's just hard, smelly, dirty low pay labour. But it's also the art of turning bullshit to useful, productive soil through the regular introduction of fresh air and sunshine.
Our buddy Frod likes to draw analogies to the industrial methods, which really haven't worked out so well if you look too closely. I prefer a more organic approach. Water what you want to grow.
A good head and good heart are always a formidable combination. But when you add to that a literate tongue or pen, then you have something very special
