Another Passes

Well, I have the wonderful job to tell u all that we have lost another friend.  I was told by someone that Ryan Karen passed away recently.  He was in and out of institutions and jail since KIDS.  He finally ended his life by hanging himself.  I thought of him often.  I guess because he was one that I never thought should have been there.  He did nothing!  Yet Newton made his parents believe he was such an awful child.  He was so scared & timid all the time.  God Bless his family & friends.  I will remember him as what I truly imagined his childhood to be when he would sit in group & be so "unmotivated" to talk because he had nothing so horrid to talk about.
I dont want to write RIP next to his name.  This sucks.

Thank you for the up date. This is very sad. And I think it hits us all in the heart and makes us think about what we have been through. It`s hard to understand why some make it, and some don`t? I know for myself I have felt this low before to think about ending it all , but because of my kids ,family and friends I would not bring myself there.Maybe thats the key, keeping people close to me.Never feeling so distant and alone.
My thoughts and Prayers go out to his family and friends.
And to you all as well.

So, this is the fault of KIDS?
I think not.

Did you know that alcoholics tend to think things are never their fault?

I`m not saying it`s "Kids" fault but, maybe if he got the help he REALLY needed as a young kid he would not be where he is at now !When you take young minds and FUCK them up, these things can happen. In the end he took his own life, but "Kids" did not help with any of our future`s. Remember it was pounded in our heads that we would amount to nothing with out them and would DIE. Maybe when you put that shit in young kids minds they begin to believe it ?

Well I hear you on that. There is a time when we have to look at what happen and move on. At the same time I still see how it all affects me now, good and bad. I just try to grow stronger from the whole thing. All I can do for today is make my life better.I am responsible for me.And can not change the past.If I sit in it, they are still winning.
To go on and better myself, shows me how wrong they were.

It's amazing. Not one of my olddruggiefriends, or even olddruggieacquaintances, has offed themselves yet, except for one who my mother helped to kidnap into Bethesda School for Girls. Many were into far more drugs and other outrageous behavior than I was. But, for some damned reason, only the kids who landed up in a blue chair, shamed and tormented for masturbating or thinking about the opposite sex have commited suicide. All the rest have gone on to reasonably successful lives. Coincidence? Sure. Just keep on telling yourself that (Virgil)

Out of context, it might be hard to tell which side you're taking. Yeah, blame the kid. For everything. For their parent's shitty attitudes, for crime in the world. While you're at it, why not blame poor dark complected inner city boys for creation and control of the $400B international industry that is the illicit drug trade.

Say, I've got some swampland (ehr... I mean waterfront property) in Florida. You in the market for some real estate?

No be a good boy and go dunn yourself for something. Miller would be proud (sucker!)

I'ts sick I tell ya. SICK!

Hey, I don't blame Satan Newton for my problems, but the shit that I went thru at Straight  DID impact my life later on.  I don't blame anyone for my problems, but I KNOW THAT THE NIGHTMARES AND SOCIALIZATION PROBLEMS THAT I HAD AFTER LEAVING STRAIGHT CAN BE DIRECTLY RELATED TO STRAIGHT.  My life is going well; I have a great son (21) years of and a wonderful wife have a wonderful job and make lots of money - but that isn't what counts (money)- what counts is my family and friends.   Guess there is not a relationship between Satan Newton's treatment of children and his lawsuit problems now either.  Mr.fartoogone were you ever in any of Newtons programs?   If you were then there is a direct relationship from what we went thru as kids adn our life now.

Everyone's got damage, and that's a fact. The whole depression era generation sustained damage from their life's travails. Every soldier who ever went to war and every victim and survivor of murder and other ugly events suffers some damage.

It's our job as tax paying, voting adult citizens to correct the mistakes of recent generations; try to replicate all they got right and, overall, improve on their work.

One big mistake is the pervasive idea that everyone has to be an injured victim or a diseased, dysfunctional individual in order to see justice.

Screw dat! The Program broke some people, that's true. But it only tried to break a lot of us; we're still standin' and havin' a blast. And we learn from our experience, don't we?

There's something terribly, terribly wrong with what the Program does to kids and their families. There's something far worse about our government's complicity in it and the way the Program bends public policy to the opposite of our intended effect. Instead of enjoying the protection of rule of law, we have members and agencies of our own government actively aiding and abeting these criminals.

I'm not looking for rescue or retribution. Just a higher standard of character,  behavior and accountability from my tax funded, elected and appointed authorities.

Another mistake: Forced Public Schooling But that's another story almost entirely.
