Don't Let Congress Censor Discussion of Legalization

As soon as this Thursday, November 5, the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee could vote on an amendment that will legally prevent some of the government's top advisers from even discussing the idea of legalizing or decriminalizing drugs as a solution to the failed "war on drugs."

Yes, you read that right.  The Senate just might censor its own policy advisers from giving science-based advice.

The censorship amendment's author, Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA), is trying to attach the speech prohibition onto an otherwise positive bill that will create a blue ribbon commission to study our nation's failed criminal justice and drug policies.  The commission is supposed to make recommendations for ways to improve the system, but how can they do that with the blindfold that Sen. Grassley wants to put on them?  Please take action below and tell your senators to oppose the censorship amendment!

An addition to the Public Health Code was passed on the 31 December 1970, which punishes the "positive presentation of drugs" and the "incitement to their consumption" with up to five years in prison and fines up to €76,000. Newspapers such as Libération, Charlie Hebdo and associations, political parties, and various publications criticizing the current drug laws and advocating drug reform in France have been repeatedly hit with heavy fines based on this law

Not surprisingly, perhaps as a result of the censorship, France is one of the most "anti-drug" countries in the EU.

Regardless, what the traitorous congressman is suggesting is clearly unconstitutional.

have any of you been following what has been happening in britain? recently, a top drug policy advisor was sacked for stating that cannabis was less harmful than alcohol or tobacco. Two of his colleagues also resigned in return.

british artists (joss stone, what'sherface crackhead something....etc) have also been giving warnings from the government to tone down their admissions to drug use, out of fear for the "example it may set for the youth". In return, british artists have been saying (in a politely british way) "go fuck yourself!". they should go fuck themselves. all brits should just go fuck themselves. they are a bloody useless snobby bunch of politically scandalous hooligans, as they say.


It['s just the government's attempt at quelling the tide of growing indifference to cannabis and other drug use in the western world. They will fail miserably, and just make things worse for themselves just like  nixon did with the hippie revolution.
