I was planning on attending with my daughter, but it was suggested, by Psy and others, that it might be a bad idea.  He mentioned that it will be mostly survivors and that my daughter isn’t a survivor.  So I assume survivor doesn’t mean a person who attended a TBS.  What does survivor mean?  Kids who attended boot camp type places?   Or those who didn’t do well?
Just curious

Go away who....

Your daughter is fine but a person who mocks the abuse suffered by survivors is less then unwelcome.

Please explain.  Why wouldn't The Who's daughter be a survivor?  She went to a TBS, Swift River, if I remember right.  Are you agreeing with The Who that SRA is not abusive so therefore his daughter isn't a survivor of an abusive TBS?  Interesting.

What a survivor means to me is somebody who was sent away against their will to a place they had no control of going to, and actually made it out without having their spirit broken.

Keep in mind as a minor you have no say in how long you are placed there for. If there is abuse going on, there is nobody to report it to. Your parents don't believe you, and the power hungry control freaks that work there are constantly after your ass!

So, somebody that had to endure all that, that didn't kill themselves, another staff member, or a fellow inmate, and came out of there somewhat normal and able to function in the real world is a survivor to me.

We all have our own definitions. But, that is mine.

How about someone who didn’t chose to go and agreed to go only because there were few other viable options on the table.   Once there she took advantage of what there was to offer, applied herself, worked hard, made many personal advances thru the help of her therapist and got back on track with her personal and academic life.  She is functioning very well now in the real world.  Even though she attended a non abusive school she survived her dilemma.

Hmm...............from what you've said she sounds like a real success story!!! Although, I have never spoken with your daughter to see what her personal experiences were, or how she felt when you sent her away. Or what she went through while there.I am merely going by what you have said. I think it might be interesting hearing her side of the story? Is she available to talk? Does she post here?

I consider myself a survivor because I never succeeded in killing myself while there. Fortunately, I never killed a staff member (thank god, other wise I'd be locked up still). You'll never really know Who what it feels like to be sent away against your will to a place that's not of your choosing. It really sucks to be left, and forgotton in the hands of people who are not all that nice to you. There might be a couple staff that are decent, but for the most part......NOT!

I was not the only one left and forgotton for 4+ years. There were other girls in my shoes. We had no choice but to take what was given to us.

Well, I think time is relative a few weeks away, a few months to others would seem excessive.  But 4 years seems to be way too much, in my opinion.  I couldn’t have my daughter away that long.  But I am sure other people would say that about me and my daughter being away for 14 months or so… fortunately she was surrounded by people who cared about her and wanted her to succeed.  She did survive what could have been a devastating path which she once was on.

CCM, I am sorry you had to endure such a long time away from your family and support system.  Hopefully you were able to maintain and/or salvage most of the bond you had with your family.  I think what help maintain the bond with my daughter and I were the frequent visits and phone contact.

TheWho admits that he enjoys making fun of the personal testimonies of sexual abuse victims.

He admits he finds one of the most detailed and horrifying accounts "struck him as a little funny".

He copy/pasted the most graphic part of this survivor's testimony.
Then added his own comments in a sadistic attempt at humor. The
day after the survivor posted their original story.

TheWho posted in response to one guest  as a way to "Get back at that guest" and "try to be funny".
He failed at both.

He did, however, manage to show his true nature, decide for yourself.

In an earlier post he claims he would believe a survivor if he knew nothing of the facility (as in this case).
A confirmed lie.

He will not just disbelieve a survivor. He will copy/paste their words.
Add his own jokes about sexual and physical abuse in captivity.

A truly disgusting spectacle of immaturity by TheWho.

The Who admits to finding testimony of sexual and physical abuse "a little funny" and is a confirmed liar.

Copy/pasted from this thread of  post made Sat Apr 14, 2007

TheWho writes the next day Sun Apr 15, 2007 in response to a guest:

Quote from: ""TheWho""
Oh come on that’s only the tip of the ice berg, lets be honest, no exaggerating here, we need to be credible or no parents will believe us.  Here is a more complete account:

No food.
Sexual abused in everyway.
Repeat beatings.
No water.
No bathroom.
No bedding.
Little items I had were stolen, like my sweaty hat and shoes.
My Bible ripped and wrecked.
What little food I got, stolen from me.
Forced to drink cum, piss, eat shit.
Duct-taped from head to toe for no reason. http://wwf.fornits.com/viewtopic.php?t= ... c&start=80[/url]

Why would TheWho copy/paste this from a survivor's story and add his own disgusting comments and make fun of child abuse? The comments int he parenthesis are TheWho's, the rest was copy/pasted from a survivor testimony posted one day earlier, detailing sexual abuse and other horrible forms of abuse.

Quote from: ""TheWho""
There was an event that struck me as kind of absurd and a little funny, at the time, that’s all.

http://wwf.fornits.com/viewtopic.php?t=21604&start=10

He disgustingly  uses the most graphic details of a survivor's abuse story to make jokes. He is making fun of a child abuse victim who is explaining they were sexually abused, and he makes fun of the very next day. TheWho has some maturing to do!

Quote from: ""TheWho""
If you talk about being abused in a facility I know nothing about, I will believe you.

What does TheWho have to say about WWASPS, the program CCM Girl was incarcerated at?

Quote from: ""TheWho""
The facts will speak for themselves, when we get them, we have none now to support either side.
Looks like an investigatiopn may start to compare Programs, private schools and the public school systems. Once the data becomes available we all will have more of a valid argument instead of basing our positions on a few parents feelings on the subject or a couple of angry kids who had a bad experience.

The proof that they saved thousands of lives will be found or not found. The same as any long term mental issues as a result. Until we get the facts we are just a debate club without a library.

Give it time.

Quote from: ""TheWho""
Quote
Ken Kay, tells me that abuse is "a very rare occurrence" at affiliated schools, with no more than at public schools -- "that doesn't mean we're gonna shut down the public schools."

I have spoken to many people who feel this way despite the well publicized problems in WWASPs.  The solution is obvious, someone needs to present some evidence from both sides or support a study by an independent agency.

This looks like it may be a start, go for it !!!!
