So does activism have anything to do with the severity of what is going on? reason I ask is because I see so many people organizing and doing all kinds of things to save chickens and rats and PETA freaks and ECO fascists like ELF and those people... to save some trees. I wonder why they dont try and save their peers. I am thinking these days a lot of people dont see anything wrong with it. Even the so called "activists" who just want a scare story and strawmen they can beat to death on command to show parents how much they hate abuse right before they cash in..
People at large, these days, don't think many of the things that happen are possible in this country.
Perhaps you'd like to elaborate "cash in". With the possable exception of that traitor, Sue Scheff, who is making the money here? Hm? Program supporters (such as educational consultants) or anti-program advocates?
im talking about the next generation of sou chefs, venture down into the wwasps forum to see my meaning. its not unique either. when kids grow up for a year or more and watch and study a system, it becomes natural to think they can rebuild it, improve it, it fits in with the natural pattern of thought and resolution. isnt it a thought to think that YOU could start the BESt program in the country, where you spoil the kids and take good care of them and everyone sings around the campfire? Its not possible. No matter who you are, program survivor, mother teresa, nobody can do it and do not address the point that these places arent necessary and 99% of the kids sent away would NEVER qualify for inpatient treatment if professionals were making the decision! :flame:
whos cashing in.. well currently id say its the edcons. they are the ones benefiting from abusive program the most financially, because once parents are more informed of the danger, they take more pecaution (presumably) in choosing their school. that adds a layer of jobs for a bunch of housewives, ex program freaks and anyone else willing to do the dirty work of selling prison sentences to kids parents. wwasps is only a small part of the industry, but all the negative press about them is certainly benifitingn other programs, and styles of programs like wilderness. just as boot camps were ultimately decided to be too hard, unenlightened and worthless (now used on poor kids in public institutions) the rich kids parents want to experiment in lighter, psychological forms of coercion. watching some big black dude scream at little johnny is too much for them. now the parents never see what happens.. coincidence?
maybe i am paranoid, or schizo, but i see this industry shifting dramatically at the moment, and while some "advocates" might be breathing a sigh of relief, I think any relenting of criticism will ultimately give credit to similarly ineffective programs, even if they appear to be less physically abusive.
i guess its getting really dishonest, and creepy. you know what i mean?
i dont consider myself an activist at all.. just a program survivor. of course i will tell anybody about it they really wnat to know, but i dont seek parents out. i made htat mistake when i first came home, OMG.. dont underestimate the fact that these programs attract crazy parents, or maybe crazy parents have kids who act out, but there is a pattern. WWASPS parents and potential wwasps parents tended to be pretty domineering, control freak and I guess I feel bad for their kid becfause they weren't going to listen to anybody. I hate to stereotype, but there is a typical wwasps parent.. .and it ain't pretty.
i like fornits but this recent push to make this into a activist forum and every post to consider what people think of us.. i find that extremely program like and boy do i love talking out of group!
so with that in mind... forget everything I just said.. because i will
