Anyone know how I can contact my friend in Cross Creek?
Her parents seem very hesitant to give me out the 'code' to be able to send her letters, although I will keep on cautiously asking her for her address and permission..

I heard there are stickers, or some sort of symbol on the envelope..anybody able to help?



p.s. - yeah, I decided to join, for the sake of convenience... looks like I'll be checking out this board often.

Part of how programs work, intentionally, is complete isolation from the outside world. You're going to have to do a DAMN good job of towing the program line and saying what they want you to say if you ever want your letters to get through, especially since they can identify you now on fornits.

Yes, they read fornits, its no secret. They now know youre "anti program" and can trace you based on your livejournal link in your profile. I'd suggest you remove that, fast.

Its not possible to be supportive of her, but not the program. They OWN her now, and theyre going to do their damnest to program her, which requires her being completely cut off from everyone she knows, loves, and cares about, and utterly dependant on the program, and does what they say, and THINKS how they tell her to.

Unless you come in with sterilized "do what the program says, Ill support you when you graduatte" type shit, expect it to get thrown in the trash.

...Unless of course you remove any and all links and easy means of identification so they dont know your real name and you might slip by.

Sorry to be such a downer, but... well, if you wanna play the game, know the rules. This is also probably a bit of a shock, but its the truth.

Okay, look:  You want your mail to get through to her?  Print up mailing labels that have her parents return address.  Type the label on the letter.  Type the letter but don't sign it, and keep it to neutral information about what's happening in the community and news---chatty, but neither for nor anti program.

They aren't perfect.  Chances are someone will open the mail and see something harmless and pass it through.

Send some letters all typed like that.  Send some letters printed in the most neutral, least individualized handwriting that you can manage.

Whenever one gets through, it will matter the world to her as evidence that she hasn't been forgotten, and because it will help keep her somewhat connected to the outside world.

What I did was have my sons friends mail me their letters; and I then enclosed them, and mailed them on - and NO - I did Not read them first. I wanted to - but I had promised I wouldn't, and I didn't. I don't think you can expect this from the average program parent tho. They are encouraged not to allow friends to write and to closely screen anything they do write.

So, keep this in mind if you do write. It will be screened, and if you don't seem supportive of the program she won't get it and all contact will be cut. Just assume this to be the case until there is proof otherwise.

On the plus side, If you show a willingness to send the letter through the parents, you will have a much better chance they will allow it.

And I feel this would be helpful to your friend, even if you are not able to speak frankly about the program. They feel so cut off and forgotten. A letter from a friend could be her saving grace. The one thing that helps her keep herself intact.

Please do all you can to stay in touch - even if it means submitting to censorship.

Like the poster said above me, that is the only way to get letters in. Yes, I was at a wwasps facility and I know that is how it works. I received only a couple letters from friends while locked up, and they were included with my parents letters. Of course, they were from 'approved' friends I had met while in other treatment centers previous to WWASP. They would never have sent me letters from my "old" friends. That is the problem here, it's all up to the kids parents, and whether or not they like you. Other than that, you can try to scam it like Julie said with the parents return addrss, but when I was there they asked parents to write a code or put a sticked on it to prevent this. Maybe you can hit up the Myspace WWASP groups and they could help, thats where you can find kids that are just out and have knowledge that couple be more applicable as I have been out a few years.

I'm going to try the myspace approach and try to talk to her mother more. :)
