I don't get it

Shouldn't we all be pissed off at our parents for sending us to Elan? Not AT Elan? I mean, Elan isn't all innocent or anything but really- they didn't ask for us to go there. They weren't sending your parents JUNK MAIL...."Problem Kids? Send them to us! We'll straighten them out! Either that or kick the shit outta them!"

You're full of shit. Thinking of Elan involves anger and there's absolutelly nothing to be greatful for. You sound like an Elan's staff member.

Perhaps I should type in caps for the mentally challenged that frequent this site. Elan was horrible,I harbor some anger from my days there. the operative word is WAS.As in the past, not today.Being angry all my life accomplishes nothing. I am Very gratefule for whom I have become, the things I have accomplished, the direction my life is headed.
Probably another concept you cannot grasp

When you say "grateful" it sounds metaphysical. Be greatful to yourself and yourself only for your accomplishments. Maybe thank your friends, whatever! But it's OK to be angry when the subject is Elan (therefor, your past, not present). Identifying anger based on a past experience doesn't mean you haven't overcome your traumas. Anyways, it's positive to reflect about the past and it very much helps you to put your future in perspective. I have to agree with one of the Elan stupid sentences that they made us write in our stupid plaques: "Those who forget their past are dommed to relive it".

Honestly, for me personally, its a non-issue. Im not even really thinking about elan when im on the Fornits! As far as anger towards my parents, im sure they had anger towards me for some of the stuff I did. Elan kept them in the dark about what it was really like (anybody ever look at their website... and then laugh your ass off?) and I was probably deserving of getting sent '*somewhere* if not elan.

Heres another elanspeak plaque philosophy (look up the definition of philosophy and see if the word applied) - I cried when I had no laces, until I met a man on a bright LE... then I just laughed as I permenantly fucked up the bones in my feet

Sometimes I think that elan really DID brainwash me and they did it so well it's taken me 15 years to realize it. And I can't be mad at elan or my parents, only myself for allowing all that crap to happen. [ This Message was edited by: outlaw on 2006-07-05 03:55 ]

Don't regret the 15 years that passed, but be glad you've actually reflected about it and now you can see things from a rather different perspective.

As if the Elan staff would tell us we were going through a brainwashing process...
No, I'm not an Elan staff (obviously ::bangin:: ), but at one point, I've come to the same conclusions as you. Only it took me less than 15 years to do so, but it really doesn't matter how long it takes and that was my point.
