TheWho, I know you get asked this a lot, and I can't say for certain if you've answered, but anyway....

Which ones are the good programs? Are there any you know of specifically?

Oh, boy, I did that a year or so ago and I got hammered.  I mentioned a few programs that I thought were good and the response was awful.   Every negative story you could imagine was posted, nothing positive.  There was this admin named Deborah who found the schools web sites and started posting pictures of the staff and making fun of their families  and stating that the others with PhD’s were not licensed within the state and it took me a ton of time to produce the evidence that they were in fact licensed.  I felt so bad for the people and their families had to witness the humiliation.

So I stay away from naming programs.  If this was a regular discussion board we could have that type of talk and weigh the pros and cons of each place and pass along some meaningful information to parents.

Imagine being in a discussion where people asked what you thought was the top 3 best automobiles and you said:  “I like Mercedes, Lamborghini and Hondas” and right after you posted you got pictures of all those cars in major accidents and pictures of people who died but not one positive debating point… Ha,Ha,Ha… it would sort of put an end to the discussion fairly quick!!

So I find it best to just stick with general debate and try not to get into naming specific programs.

Wow.  You admit to being afraid of naming any programs because you're afraid of being liable for a death or injury. If you can't name a "good" program to hold up as an example, you really don't have any faith in the industry you support.

By the way, Deborah did prove staff were unlicensed.  Don't think because she isn't posting no one will know you are lying.  We don't feel sorry for the staff who were found to be unqualified.

You don't want to name programs because you're afraid you'll name an abusive one.  We name them as a warning to others, present personal experiences and post any and all evidence we can gather.  You post generalities in favor of the industry without naming programs and their failures/successes.  If you support the industry you should have some facilities you're brave enough to name.

Fornits is a regular discussion board, you're allowed to post your pro RTC commercials for the entire industry and debate us.  Without naming your good and bad programs you promote them all.  StrugglingTeens is not a regular discussion board.  ST shares your views, but their discussion board will not tolerate negative comments about the industry.  Enjoy your free speech on Fornits who, even while you mock the forum.

No you didnt, she shut you up and you scampered off to discuss something else. You've never proven anyone wrong here on anything. You're just too much of a coward to ever admit it. I challenge you to prove me wrong. I know you wont but its funny to watch you squirm. No wonder your family hates you.

Death or injury?  Not sure what you mean, I don’t believe I ever said that.  Who would get hurt?

Sounds like I may not be the big supporter everyone thinks.  This is what I have been saying all along.

Wrong.  One of the staff had an expired license because they had gone from one level in the profession to another.  So of course they would allow their old license to expire when they moved up to a new level and picked up a new one.
In the other case the doctor had transferred from another state so his old license (in the previous state) expired but he was re licensed in the new state.
Its easy to make someone look bad if you just post a link to their old expired license.  Its a cheap shot to do to someone especially if you don’t even know them.

You don’t feel sorry for “anyone”.  You will drag anyone through the mud who is even associated with a program because you have lost all sense of right and wrong or compassion for others.  If someone hires a graduate student to work with the kids and you feel they should have their masters degree why is that their fault?  What gives you the right to ridicule this kid and post pictures and comments for their family to view on the internet?  It is wrong, but you have lost this sense over the years.  Is it wrong that this student tries to get a job in a field they love and work with kids and pursue the career they enjoy?

Quote

You may be right.  If I was a program supporter I would have a few key programs to throw out as gems to represent the industry.  But as I have said for years I am not a program supporter, just a parent who is here to help get the right message out.

You take the “used car salesman” approach and allow one side of the story to be told.  You don’t offer up any positive information as it comes out.  If someone happens to mention positive facts about a program you down play them.  You don’t have control over what individuals post, but each person has control over themselves.

Everyone who has read what I post knows I don’t promote programs or support them all.  This is a sharp stick tactic because you don’t like me arguing the points.  I give people/programs the benefit of the doubt.  Anyone who has read a few pages here knows no one else does that here (or very few at least). I am able to say that I am not in favor of children with Aspergers or Autistic children being sent to a program.  I don’t believe children with attachment issues should be treated outside the home (unless the family is pursuing a disruption).  I have changed my views on regulation, staff requirements and I don’t believe parents should be able to send their child to a program without sign off from a therapist or counsellor.  I continue to grow and learn every day which effects my views on the industry.  Many here cannot make this claim and hold the same views they had 30 years ago.

If a child gets hurt fornits turns into a lynch mob and even if it goes to jury if the results don’t come out the way you like you still accuse the people who were acquitted and brand them abusers.

I don’t mock the forum, but I may mock some of the people who post here in retaliation which is mild compared to what gets thrown at me and mild compared to what I see being done to staff people who many have never even met.  If you took some time to meet some of these people face to face and understand what drives them and what makes them tick you would never try to discredit them or embarrass them in front of their families the way it is done here.  You place an ugly mask on program staff so you don’t have to look at their faces while you ridicule and accuse them of being abusers.  You get so caught up in it that you don’t even realize you are being abusive yourselves.

If you were so above board you would try to base some of your believes on facts and statistics instead of repeating the same 10 children’s names over and over again.  You reject numbers as cherry picked or suspect if the results are not what you want them to be.

There was a Pulitzer prized winning novelist who spent a year and a half inside a program and wrote what he saw and the childrens experiences.  I would think that this would be one of the top books that would be on the fornits book list.  But it is not even listed or discussed because he didn’t see the abuse fornits is selling to people here.  Please don’t pretend to be open minded and make statements like: ....fornits ” post any and all evidence we can gather”.  Any person who has been reading here for a few hours knows this not to be true.

Sorry, I don’t know who you are so if I was too harsh or unfair, I apologize

We feel that when a "school" advertises that "students" are "counseled" by someone with a Masters or higher, and then we find out that they're really being seen by graduate students, it's wrong.  False advertising.

Thank you, that was classic.  I could not have put together a better fornits response myself.  You solidified my points.

As people read the responses in the above post you will understand why I am here.

@Who:  you're a weenie jabber.  They banned you, you was crying like a pussy.  Now you can't even name a program you support not even your beloved ASR.  You could cite the Whitmore as an abusive program safely but I guess you don't think it was.

If you can't name one program you feel confidant about you obviously know the truth:  they're all shit.

You're the flim-flam man.  You're an industry popcorn.  Considering you won't identify any program as good or bad, is it right for you to post on threads about specific programs?  You defend them with your posts.

Flim-flam man.  Suckerass popcorn monkey-boy.  Industry whore.  You talk much shit about an industry as a whole, but you won't identify a single program with some up or down thumb action.  You're a Gacy clown and a low paid flunky.

You claim I am a weenie Jabber? … you ingrate…you dare to question me, my man!! Why, Why I will strangle you within inches of your life with my ASR scarf... I will saddle you with the task of reading thousands of thank you letters from former students….. You are a shockingly backward rapscallion ....you will be forced to choose from the ASR Vegan menu for 1 week…….  You are an unconscionably ill-mannered barbarian , and a dastardly, foul-smelling festering boil on the butt of humanity….I shall personally see to it that you are tasked with dispensing the popcorn during movie night, and you shall endure a personal bag without butter!!!   …. You are nothing but a whoreson mandrake…..I will hire an escort service to forcibly take you into town to endure date night with the other ASR students.
Dam you, you bootless swag-bellied flap-dragon………I shall alter your self esteem utilizing my handy flint and limestone… Thou caluminous folly-fallen clack-dish!....I will brow beat you with endless photos of children attending the college of their choice…. You are a conspicuously incorrigible pervert and a catatonic, gossip-mongering offense to all of good taste and decency. ….. I shall personally force you to swim laps in the ASR pool, with the heater turned off!!....
You are buttock-rimming proof that evolution can go in reverse. ….I will seat you at the bow during ASR’s white water rafting trip….. all You men! You beasts! That quench the fire of your pernicious rage!"  I will force thee to wax your own skis.  There is nothing wrong with you that reincarnation wont cure, although you suffer from delusions of adequacy I shall restrain you and force you to read college acceptance letters.

Pink Floyd Richard Wright?  Shit.

@Who:  yeah, yeah, yeah.  Blah, blah, blah.  Name the good the bad and the ugly programs, please.  Otherwise, you can't see the trees for the forest.

Oh yeah.  I didn't really read your rubbish reply but here's a brief and succinct response:  Fuck you flim-flam man.  Ya wishy-washy weenie jabber.
