So like I have been saying to the parents is to discard this nonsense and check with the school.  They are spreading so much mis information, here, as we have shown, I dont think you can believe any of it.

Not at all. I know they aren't licensed as an RTC. I doubt they're licensed as a Residential Substance Abuse facility.  

All we can conclude at this point is that ASR has licensed counselors which was the big question.  The open issue now is how many are they required to have.

That's all YOU can conclude. I challenge you to stop using "We" and replace it with "I".

If they aren't licensed as either type of provider, they are quite clearly providing therapy in violation of the law.  Schools are disallowed from providing these services, period.

I've been reading the MySpace blog of an ASR counselor...His degree is in English, and he's listed as a "res. mentor", whatever that is.  He recently broke up with a guy who left a "handprint on his heart".  Um...yeah, I'll keep looking for ASR staff on MySpace after I stop snickering...

Pure BS. I can't even verify that with the IP. You clearly haven't confirmed it's staff via PM because they aren't registered.
I'm not one to criticize others spelling and grammer, I personally think it's over rated, but I'd think any employee at a $6000/month "school" could do a little better.

So after the next testing period it looks like they will have upwards of 8 counselors licensed or 73% licensed.  They have come a long way over the past few years.  When we checked them last year (or year and a half ago) they had 2 licensed staff and they have expanded the number of hires also.  Its good to see these schools take a pro active approach to hiring more staff and encouraging them to get licensed.  I know it is an added expense for the schools in terms of salary and educational expenses, but it shows they are on a path for continuous improvement, which his healthy for the school and the kids.

every state has different rules as to what it takes to get a license.  different hours of work or supervision.  the level of supervision differs also.  i cannot quote each state.  MA requirement take about 2 years to complete.  you also have to take a test and present a case.  the state of georgia is ridiculus about licensing which has to do with the fact it has 150 counties that have to come into agreement before anything is decided.

HLA was founded by some CEDU people but they have never changed the program.  i do not ever remember it being held up as the cream of the crop except for Buchi.  however, the people you refer to at ASR left in 2003 if i remember right.  they have a new clincal director who like i said is clinical in his stance. see these are facts that never seem tobe taken into account.

I think you mean ?Keystone cops? !!  The kids love it when the staties show up.  The school lets everyone out of their cages, they put make up on the scars and  have real food brought in from the local deli.

Sorry DJ you numbers have zero credibility at this point.  We cant rely on them because you keep changing your position, licensed/not licensed.  Faulty background checks, posting misinformation.

The only thing we can rely on are the latest figures.  When ASR updates their web site then those will be the latest figures, but until then (and not a day sooner) we will have to depend on these:

Who, if your information is correct, and properly cited, then no one can "prove you wrong". Right?
If the "school" is operating ethically and lawfully, then there's no worry of "getting them in trouble". Is there? We will have simply wasted our time.
Embarrassing staff? You mean by posting their licensing status?

Have you even called the Licensing Division in Mass and reported that ASR provides "therapy" and should be properly licensed as an RTC. If they were, we wouldn't be having this discussion about whether or not staff held the proper credentials. Licensing ADDS VALUE.
The kids at RC/HLA were very happy with the changes made after I reported them. They had better food (albeit fried), no more limited calories as punishment. Doesn't mean that RC/HLA has followed the regs. In fact RC was just recently written up with 33 violations, primarily for taking HLA kids without adequate records. Once HLA is licensed, I'm sure the kids will be even happier with the changes.
And that doesn't mean everyone can breath easy. We will continue to monitor and report violations to the state. With regulation in place ORS can go in to investigate without a court order, which gave HLA ample time to "clean things up".
