Yes.  You will probably be ripped apart for your positive views of HLA.  Though, your experience is like many others.  I have posted on this board several times and said that there are many benefits to HLA, and depending mainly on your child's counselor, your child(and family) will get the help they need.

A couple of things you should be aware of...

A pharmacy tech and nurse are not the ones to have always handled your childs meds.  If this is the case now, it is a recent change.  Meds are routinely handled by people with no medical training.

The transportation fee is simply a scam to raise more funds.  No matter what you have been told, HLA is not in strong financial standing.

The Chapel Fund...well...The have a lot of explaining to do with that one.  No one seems to know where all the money has gone.  Very sticky situation that I am sure they are trying to resolve before legal trouble kicks up.

I am glad to hear someone get on here a talk about their positive experiences.  I believe yours are more common than people on this board want to believe.  Most kids do actually have positive experiences at HLA.

The owner is just incompetent, crazy, and corrupt.

yet another post showing all the corruption, greed and extreme negligence of HLA with the parent stating that they LEFT THEIR KID THERE after finding all of this information.

what's WRONG with you?  i don't get this line of thinking at all.  "i paid too much, stuff isn't included, facility is broke, staff lies to us, kids get hazed, there is b no security, if you get LUCKY you get a decent counselor who wants to help...etc"

GO GET YOUR KID AND GET SOME REAL HELP FOR YOUR FAMILY.

I wonder how much of a pay off she got for saying all those good things about HLA? Either that or it's one of the new staff writing that crock.

what does All Inclusive tuition really mean?

Looks like HLA has removed the "all inclusive" term from their web site now:

http://www.hiddenlakeacademy.com/Tuition.aspx

T U I T I O N

Hidden Lake Academy has a tuition of $5,950 per month. The monthly tuition does not include the following:

Uniforms ($1,400 at enrollment)
Computer Rental (optional $600)
Transportation for Medical/Dental Appointments (if needed)
Psychological Testing (if needed)
Formal Individual Therapy (if needed)
Transportation to the Airport for Seasonal Breaks

There are no additional "hidden costs" or enrollment fees. All school trips and activities for students are included in the monthly tuition.

HLA is an 18 month therapeutic program that expands due to the date of enrollment. Students may spend 18-21 months at HLA because they must complete the academic semester to receive academic credit. We have three graduations per year based around the academic calender - May, August and December.

Examples:
A student enrolling in January graduates the program in August of the following year.
A student enrolling in September graduates in May or 21 months later.

This is not new--it is the exact language that was part of the contract we signed before admitting our child to the school.  The separate fees for doctors, toiletries, etc. have always been know.  No one has tried to hide any costs from us.  The only increase was in local travel costs when the price of gas when sky high.  That was understandable and explained quite well.  Perhaps the parents who have been writing did not read their contracts before signing them.  We have always know that we paid the last three months up front--it was carefully explained.  If we pulled our child, we lose the money.  Having been on all inclusive vacations, there are always limits to the all inclusive.  For example, alcohol may not be included.  Or spa costs may not be included.   Just read the contract before signing.

Hello Dumb Ass:

We're not talking about a VACATION; We're talking about our CHILDREN.

We DID read our contracts and they DID say ALL INCLUSIVE. Perhaps you enrolled your child after we had enrolled ours - did you ever think of that? No, of course not - thinking is too hard for you.

Licensed Professional Counselors and State Certified Teachers are probably extra, too. Duh.

You seem to have an anger issue.  First, my child is enrolled.  The teachers are qualified.  The counselors working with my child have masters degreed and meet the qualifications for running peer groups.  My child is doing well and is making tremendous improvements.  I did for one read the contract, I read every web page, and I sought help when I realized the counseling and therapy at home was not working.  Perhaps if you did not verbally harass people, more people who are positive would be able to post on this site and have good discussions and debates rather than being afraid of the name calling and abuse you heap on.

Trust me, I know of no one who wants to send their child away from home.  And the parents I have met at the parents meeting are good people who are struggling, in close contact with their children, attend every meeting, love their child and are working hard toward a bright future.

No place is perfect, but it is not the hell you make it out to be.

Not according to state laws, rules and regulations they're not.

Uncertified teachers and unlicensed counselors should not be working with our kids, plain and simple.

Which Masters level LICENSED counselor is working with your kid?

Which CERTIFIED teachers are working with him/her?

Please let us know which highly qualified people are taking care of your kid.

Don't just come on here and spout, give accurate details.  Name names and qualifications.  I'd really like to see that.

The teachers are not qualified and neither are the counselors. Why don't you start doing some investigating and find out how "qualified" these people really are? Call the state and call the licensing board. Call Child Protective Services to find out why HLA is being investigated?

You've obviously only been at the school a couple of months or so so you're still in that "honeymoon phase" HLA likes to throw around. Just wait. You'll find out the truth the hard way. We all did.

All of them have masters?  What are the 'qualifications' for running a peer group?

How do you know this?

If you're really interested you'll look past the anger and realize its well deserved.  There's a boatload of info here that you really do need to find out.

Nicole, Nicole, Nicole..............too little, too late. As much as the Buch fantasizes himself as Big Brother, who can control peoples thoughts and alter the past record at will....well he just can't. You and he need to both accept that. The truth has caught up with, as have the IRS, DHR, ORS, Child Services, the Health Dept....well you know as well as we do, the list goes on and on.

You just can't stop it, cause youre just too stupid.
