Stuff you've been listening to

Canned Heat-selected singles from utube
Humble Pie-selected singles (my cassettes live on, too!!)
Cream-disraeli gears

Humble Pie!  Man, I think my wife would leave me for Steve Marriott if he hadn't turned into such a greaser and died in a fire.  No joking, that fire was tragic and fucked up and a shitty way for a guy like Marriott to die.

You heard of an Australian (Oz) band called You Am I?  They like to adopt different personas every other album.  They started off kinda Nirvana-like with Lee Renaldo producing, then they made an album that sounds like a lost Mod classic(Hourly, Daily), complete with Ricks and the right clothes.  Then came a Big Star phase on Number 3 Record.  Clever title, and it came with a bonus disc called Radio Settee, even more clever.

They put out an album called Deliverance, and just from looking at the group shot on the back of the album I thought "Shit, now they think they're Humble Pie/Faces,"  I'm not a big Humble Pie fan, so I didn't recognize "Nifty Little Number Like You" as a Marriott tune.

Anyway, if you can find some You Am I, you'll like it.  You Am I ep's and singles, rarities, etc. go for big bucks in Australia, but I got one of the most expensive on half.com for like $5 because the woman didn't know who they were.

From the sublime to the subhuman...the guy next door is cranking up Cher singing "If I Could Turn Back Time" really fucking loud.  If Cher could turn back time, Sonny wouldn't have been brained by a tree and 3/4 of her ass wouldn't be plastic.  This guy cranking the shit music is psycho and a racist...he'll play Britney, then some Pop Country boo'shit, and maybe a little bit of Korn.  I was playing an album of Stax Soul at a decent volume, and I heard this clown outside saying "The only thing worse than a nigger is a nigger lover,"  That was one of those moments when the seven day waiting  period for a fucking gun was a good thing, because I would have ventilated Bubba Goebbels many, many times

How very RUDE of you Zen. It would at least have to be Steve Marriott AND Alexis Korner singing a duet at my doorstep with Steve dressed up as an Ikette...

Alexis Korner???? That man looks riddled with addiction, Syphilis and a touch of Keef Richards Syndrome.

Anyway, dear, it would be a godawful pile of ugly putrescence serenading you on the porch, they're both long dead.  They'd be singing "Get Off My Cloud" while you scream "Get your smelly dead asses off my porch,"

Some most enlightened listening going on.  How many illegitimate bastards did Screaming Jay produce at last count?  70, 80?  I went to the website his family was using to round up all of his bastards from around the globe and offered up my white mug as a transmitter of Jay's DNA.  It is possible, I can shriek a passable "Feast of the Mau-Mau"

I thought of you tonight at Hastings, RTP.  There was a copy of Daddy Longhead's Supermasonic in the 4 for a dollar bin.  Such a treasure amongst the New Kids On The Block solo albums and shit like that there.  I might go back and get it for my step son.

Anyway,

The Good Life - Help Wanted Nights
Tobin Sprout - Moonflower Plastic
Cornhole - Down By the Glory Hole
Junior Kimbrough - You Better Run
Hasil Adkins - Out To Hunch
Glossary - How We Handle Our Midnights.  Excellent Murfreesboro band.  Should have been a bust-out album, but the New Kids solo records killed a lot of musical appetites..

Watching:

Guided By Voices - The Who Went Home And Cried.   I wish the fucker would.
