If you would have justice in this world, then begin to see that a human being is not a means to some end.  People are not commodities.  When human beings are just to one another government becomes obsolete and real freedom is born; SPIRITUAL ANARCHY.

CTI Summer Jazz series, Live One At the Hollywood Bowl(featuring George Benson, Grover Washington, Freddie Hubbard and Milt Jackson) - Kick-Ass Jazz version of The Mama's and the Papa's 'CA Dreamin'( A live jam from the 70s.  The MC is on the beginning of the tape.  It actually sounds like it could be Bill Graham, but then all those MCs talked that way back then, didn't ever'body, or what ??  Anyway he's on the mic talkin' and he says: "CTI Summer Jazz... and if Jazz is dead this is the biggest funeral I ever saw.")

Howcome ??  Those cats are all real loose(spacey and wanderin') with their rhythms.  That Hollywood Bowl jam is all super tight, but super smooth too and aggressive(like we're gettin somewhere), Rhythms and Blues Jazz.  'California Dreamin'  It's got Teef.

That is so NOT true! Mingus, for one, has made some the tightest and aggresive arrangements known to man! And shit...how can you even think of dissing Miles Davis?? He's churned out some of the angriest jazz this white boy has ever heard and will ever hear! Listen to "On The Corner" and come back here and say that! That shit JAMS! And Coltrane... Man all of the above is CLASSIC and definitely "gets somewhere" musically!!

Well I haven't listened to ever't'in' yet, and I don't mean to be dissin' nobody, I've got some Coltrane and some Miles, but I don't really listen to them all that much, only occaisionally.  Mingus I've heard but can't really remember but I think I might have one of his records downstairs in which case I've listened to it and would still rate the CTI Summer Jazz as better music.  I'll consider what you've said though and check out "On The Corner" and see what it is.  I'm always lookin' for good music.

Hey Frod, I don't mean no disrespect to any of those cats.  I know they're all real good or great or whatever.  I'm just sayin' that what I've heard from them, which I admit aint even the majority of their stuff, just don't get it like CTI, and really, there's a lot of 'great' jazz that I aint into. I seen and heard some truly great music on that Ken Burns Documentary about Jazz.  Man, that was killer, including some bad-ass Mingus and Thelonius Monk footage.  Maybe your right, and I just aint heard the right stuff yet, but that CTI really jams.  I dunno.  Tough to be more smooth an' aggressive simultaneously like that.
