Gunter Hallowgreen known from the novel "The Smell", Angela Burns and Rick Norman known from the novel "Career Choice" and "Vacation gone awry" have all posted there.

Gunter have been busy. I saw his comment in the Life section of USAtoday oddly enough also about the Osmond story.

Kind of funny.

Google is revealing quite an interesting backstory since the LKL show aired last night.  Don't know what's true or false, but a lot of speculation about her daughter coming out bi and her son might be gay and that's why he got sent to rehab.

Plenty of kids were put into Straight who lived minutes from "the building."

I'm sure programs that still use "host homes" operate in the same way.

Well, no. But then every state doesn't have programs. A lot of kids in Tx go to Tx programs.
I think it's likely because they live in a state that has a very high number of programs, and they have industry connections. I'm sure the first person she called was Rob Diaz.

Hidden Lake Academy, after operating 12 years unlicensed will now be monitored by the state. Access information on the Federal Class Action lawsuit against HLA here: http://www.fornits.com/wwf/viewtopic.php?t=17700

Good catch, thanks Deborah!

Also, kudos to Froderick for reminding us of the origins of this insidious industry, Straight -- the Granddaddy of Institutionalized Abuse Against Children.

I note samoan/ maori style dancing on the video. There seems to be a lot of this sort of thing. Is there a significant mormon prescence in the Asia pacific?

Mitt Romney is a mormon and he might be the next American president.

Must be, and going back a long time. Liahona Academy in Utah is run by members of the AhQuin family -- mormons of Hawaiian descent that have been in Utah for several generations. Several AhQuins work or have worked in other Utah programs too.

So what's the cultural predisposition that biases a certain group of people toward imprisonment & behavior modification of teenagers? Is that a Pacific Islander thing or is it a Mormon thing?

Don't forget Samoa:

Seems that there is a strong mormon/utah connection that explains the presence of programs in Hawaii and Samoa.

It's the Mormon connection that does it- Hawaiian natives have nothing in their culture that predisposes them to this sort of thing.
