Elan School / Has anyone heard from...
« on: August 13, 2005, 12:27:00 PM »
Hey,
I was in E-7 with Tiffany.  Could you please email me at katiescarlet3@hotmail.com and let me know what else you've heard about her? I heard the rumor about three years ago that she had passed away- but I always had a feeling that she was still around.  I was pretty close with her.  If you don't email me, could you please pass my address along to her if you ever talk to her?  Or just tell her that Kate Birney was asking about her?  Thanks.

This is the first topic that I have seen in a long time that is worth commenting on.  I can see this from both perspectives, but one makes much more sense.  This is supposed to be a place where people can come to talk about their feelings about elan, WITHOUT being censored.  Now, obviously Chrysta seems to get annoyed with people "complaining" about things.  So... move on to the next topic that DOESN'T annoy you.  If they all bother you in some way, maybe you are coming to the wrong message board.  Suggesting to other people that they "need some help" because they possess different feelings than you do- is pretty fucked up.  Think of it this way- if you had a friend that had been abused by a parent, or if you knew someone who had been raped- or basically if you knew anyone who was the victim of ANY kind of abuse- who also knew that their attacker was still out there- would you tell them to grow up and get some help?!  Or to just get over it?!  Probably not- unless you are a shitty friend.  I'm thinking that you would probably encourage them to report it, talk about the situation, talk about their feelings etc.  I don't know if you remember the part of elan where we learn that there are no right or wrong feelings, what's right or wrong is what you do with them.  In my opinion coming to a message board and venting these feelings with people who may have experienced similar things- is perfectly healthy.

I was there for 25 months.  I actually wanted to stay longer to go through re- entry. I knew that going from elan to college was going to be a hard transition, and I wanted to get used to not having the "structure" of elan.  Illinois cut my funding though.

My five year mark is coming up in August.  It doesn't feel like that long right?  Well, I hope all is well with you,

Elan School / whats this i here about peter?
« on: February 01, 2005, 02:49:00 PM »
I believe the "skinny pretty chick" you are speaking of is Beth Murphy.  She was there after Sarah.  Pete always had one "special" female athlete that he placated and favored over everyone else.  Beth immediately became the number one cross country student as a brand new resident- so Peter's focus went directly to her.  Although, she never went running ALONE like Sarah was cleared to.

STE-FA-NIE  !!!
Remember when you would get upset, and you were on the verge of tears, and I would say that to you in that goofy deep voice?  You would laugh EVERY time!!  Never failed!!  Well if you don't remember... it's me Kate B.  It's good to see you on here and to know that you're still around.  Props to you for having the guts to join the service at a time like this.  I hope that everything else is well.  Talk to you soon.

Elan School / Anyone want to SP my home visit?
« on: January 28, 2005, 06:23:00 PM »
No No Maren-
Remember, the lucky Illinois students got to go to school an hour earlier than everyone else.  We may have gotten to miss dinner delgations- but we also got to miss finding out what was going on in civilization, because they would watch the news after delegations, before school.
No wonder I felt like I had come out of a two year coma when I left!!!
Talk to you soon
Kate B.

P.S. Maren check your private messages

Nicole was VERY talented!!!  I remember in one of the spring carnivals when she put the males all to shame throwing the shot put!!  That was pretty cool!!  Even though I was in a different house- that was a pretty sweet day for the females at elan!

Yeah,
that's the way I remember that ring too.  I wasn't in E-8 but I remember Mitchell's rings and I remember Brian Burr in that specific ring.  His brother Matt was in 7.  I wonder what happened to him?

Yeah, Kevin was in there with us.  I definitely remember Jason Kuna.  He's in trouble?  What happened?  I'll email you a little later today about the Brian stuff.

Elan School / do you remember...................

I think the "A" part stood for attitudes.  That's what I remember anyway.  I think that way when you "hit" them it could count as hitting an LE, so you could get stuff marked off the LE list.

Elan School / SNOW ***************
« on: January 06, 2005, 10:18:00 AM »
Well, in the more northern suburbs it's good fresh snow- and it's been going for two and a half days now.  It's kind of pretty.  The wierd thing is that I remember winter being like this for most of my life here- snowing or at least snow on the ground all the time.  But the past two winters we haven't had snow as much- so when we do get snow like this- you would swear people were from Florida and have never seen snow or something!!  Even though the roads are clear- people are still driving like 5 mph.  It's pretty ridiculous.
