This is just my personal opinion, you don't have to agree with me one bit, but this is how I feel.
Kids who get sent to cedu are obviously doing something wrong. I was. But I don't think by any means that getting sent to cedu suddenly saved me and taught me a bunch of vital tools that have allowed me to live a happy life that wouldn't have possible had I never gone to Idaho. Who knows what would've happened, perhaps I could've ridden out the 'storm' and made it to college successfuly. Maybe I wouldn't have, and life would've taught me some lessons the hard way. Maybe I was on my way to juvy. Who knows?
All I know is, Cedu didn't save me. I made the decision to get it together on my own. Cedu took credit for it, but it was all me baby. Kids that were destined for failure before cedu achieve it eventually...they simply get delayed 2 painful years. Kids that are destined for success would've opened their eyes eventually. Ascent opens a lot of kids eyes...as much as that place sucks, I think it serves a purpose. Schools like BCA, however, don't. They take the credit for 'saving' you at the extremely high cost of retarding your personal and social development. Because of this, Cedu hurts far more than it helps. If it helps at all.
To the parents who have contributed to this board, if your kid wants to do well, he will. If he has no desire to succeed, he will reap what he sews. Cedu won't change it either way. Perhaps there is a rare occasion where it will. But I wouldn't count on it.
People are going to find their own form of happiness one way or another. The spoonfed version cedu forces down your throat is not it.
