CEDU / Brown Schools and derivatives / clones / Re: Shortridge Academy
« on: February 04, 2008, 04:04:31 PM »
There are several sources to investigate. The Fornits Wiki page about the facility there is a link to a myspace group of former detainees.

The url for the group is http://groups.myspace.com/shortridge

We are still improving the pages about the seminars and sometime the seminars on the spin-off schools are altered or combined from the original concept.

Here is a description of the seminar structure of another spin-off school.

Here is some text about the original concept.

I have looked the material on the facility over and created a temporary Fornits Wiki page. I have noticed that they use restraint chairs. link.

Quote
Psychiatric Behavioral Emergency Interventions

Waco Center for Youth uses two physical interventions, restraint and seclusion, to respond to situations in which a resident poses a danger to self or others and does not respond to attempts at verbal interventions. The use of restraint and/or seclusion during a behavioral emergency is intended to provide safety for the resident and others as soon as possible with minimal risk of injury.

Restraint is defined as the use of a personal hold or a mechanical device to involuntarily restrict the free movement of the whole or a portion of an individual’s body in order to control physical activity. Waco Center for Youth uses different types of personal holds that range from a “bear hug” to a restraint that involves placing a resident in a horizontal position on the floor. Mechanical restraint is used only in extreme circumstances and takes the form of a “mechanical restraint chair,” in which the resident is strapped in an upright position in a chair designed for this specific purpose.

Seclusion is defined as the involuntary confinement of an individual away from other individuals for any period of time in a hazard-free room or other area in which direct observation can be maintained and from which egress is prevented. Each living unit is equipped with a room that can be used in the event seclusion is ordered.

Restraint and seclusion are used only in extreme situations and only with the involvement of a physician and registered nurse for the shortest period of time necessary for the resident to regain self-control. Staff provide continuous monitoring of all interventions used in a behavioral emergency. Staff are trained in the use of behavioral interventions and receive annual refresher training. Please feel free to discuss any questions or concerns you might have with the treatment team.

Open Free for All / Re: Niles wants to fuck a program mom
« on: January 29, 2008, 05:45:22 PM »
About one fucking another. I wrote this story in a totally other kind of forum mentioning a maybe fictive program. I quote:

Quote
“Yes, of course. I know that it is not a part of the program, but we are here to help each and everyone of you. You are not just a number in the system and that is what you parent paid for. It is not like the ranch down the road, which is owned by a man in South Carolina. We are able to make exceptions when necessary.”

Later I joined the Normans to dinner. We talked about the program and how the bellowed president of created the first program in Jamaica several years ago. I understood that the management somehow was related. Mr. niece was married with the program of Mrs. Burns at the Whitefish branch. Miss. Bianca’s uncle did run the Mexico branch and one of her brothers was working in the group home department in Boston, which was owned by cousin of Mrs. Burns, but as she said it is normal in many programs especially those founded in Utah.

Question number one: Are these family relations normal, when the owners are from Utah?

Quote
“Sometime life can open new doors, if you are given some opposition. Rick. Tell her how you ended up here.”

“Well, here is my story. My father died when I was 17 and I guess had my step-mom – Bianca’s aunt not interfered, I would be sitting in my room watching Television to this day when I was not working shipping burgers over the counter. She sent me to Mexico where I went through boot camp and met Bianca. I also had the pleasure attending school in Jamaica and in Montana, before Bianca’s uncle asked me to start this place for high school students having problems with their senior year. It seemed only fit that I, who had experienced such difficulties could pay back the help I got.”

Miss Bianca continued. “My life had also stopped when my mother shipped me to the place my uncle runs. Although I had a crisis in Montana I came over it with the help from Rick and the caring staff up there.” She kissed her husband.

Question number two: Why do some survivors suddenly feel obligated to either start their own program or join another as staff?

Just some questions before you all end up being one happy family.

The Fornits wiki page about the facility can always use an expansion (Link).

The story is for real. I have been discussing it with a German. Apparently the boy have somehow volunteered and he had some knowledge about the region in advance.

The German think that they have found the golden egg, because it only cost about 1/3 of the cost in German.

What you dont know about Europe is that we in Denmark and properly also in Germany have a lot of problems with "tourists" from Russia and eastern Europe, who comes here without money and finance their hollidays with stealing and robbing from the citizens.

I fear that youths, who return from there will have establish connections so they can setup a little export/import business of their own. Of course work is better than hanging around doing nothing, but some work should be avoided.

Here is a link to a german article.

If you look closely at the comments, you can see me writing poorly in German.

All our computers are in the living room. None have private computers. Of course I have work-related areas, which are password protected, but my family can look me over the shoulder and I can look them over the shoulder.

When the children get boyfriends/girlfriends they can use the computers to contact them, but yesterday I talked with my 9-year daughter about how to communicate on the computers with classmates due to the latest development in Denmark:

A month ago students in a public school aged about 11 used a chat-room on a compeditor to Myspace called Arto. They talked about favorite teachers to hate and in the heated atmosphere on of the called a teacher "paedo" - shortening for you know what. The communication was intercepted by one of the schools "Google alerts" and 11 students were suspended for a week. The head teacher wanted to expell the 11 year old boy to another school, but the parents stood side-by-side and apealled to the city hall and the politicians called the head teacher to order, so the boy remained at the school but in parallel class.

So I told her that she under no circumstance must report such incidents to anyone unless she is the victim. She had no idea what sex is about and if she state something that she due to her childlike innocence has misunderstood, she would be in trouble.

But the important part is that the parents could have stopped these students if they have been in the room when the chat had taken place. So speak openly about things.

We are two persons, who has a lot of work in front of us.

Do you know, how many links Fornits Wiki has to the forums? There are about 150 pages alone in the Therapeutic Boarding School category

They all have to be adjusted over the time.

Price1869 - the blog owner - does properly imply that Wiki Researcher has edited the quoted piece.

I cannot see that it should be the case.

What shall I do with the links from Fornits Wiki. As far as I can see, the format of the url is different. Will various links from +200 page have to be redone?

Facility Question and Answers / Past and present
« on: January 11, 2008, 05:47:37 AM »
I looked at the myspace groups because all programs have periods of better and worse

Various issues:

1) Past: Lower levels had to sleep in a bluelighted room because they had cameras running all night (and possible during the day also)
Present: The lowe levels can sleep in a room but the door into the room has to remain open at all time.

Level system: past

Quote
Special Status (S.S.) after going to Crisis or running you were on S.S.
Level 1 (not much difference between S.S. and 1 no privelages)
Level 2 (got to go onto porch alone every 10 minutes check in)
Level 3 (got to go to room alone, and check out with other level 3's to horses or pool, or whatever!)
Level 4 (You had to be on level 3 for 8 weeks straight to be eligible, the therapist and staff met every 2 weeks to discuss levels)
Level 5 (I could count on one hand how many I saw in my 3+ years make 5)

Present:
Quote
1: basically your nothing.. and get nothing
2: you could have a radio in your room and go off campus with the unit for rec activities
3: could check out to the porch, have a radio and head phones, and a radio in your room, you could go off campus with your unit or other units, and could also attend coed dances, and join the heritage sports teams, oh and you could get on campus jobs
4: everything a 3 can do plus check out to the circle with other level 4's and 5's and also go on 4 & 5 activites that were coed, and you could check out to other GIRLS units, and you could order food!
5: everything a 3 and 4 could do plus you could get an nsas with which you could go off campus by yourself for a certain amount of time and also get an off campus job.
we didnt get to check out to the pool or horses inless you were a 4 or 5 and there was another girls unit there
what you call crisis is now isu.... i personally never went there and maintained high levels the whole time i was there.. with over a year spent there was only dropped levels to a 1 one time besides entry level 1.

About education - you dont get it better in any programs
Quote
we didnt have anything like getting to go to real school or anything like that.. or anything like that points system.. you could get removed, and end up in isu but thats about it

Then there is the isolation room. For how long are people put inside it? One of the largest transport firms, who cuffs and transport people around to many program has made a guide where they recommend that the use of isolation rooms do not exceed 2 hours.

I have also looked on Teton Peaks.

Their webside is here. It seems like a normal hospital lockdown and it is only something people should be put in if they are caught trying to commit suicide. I wont let my child live like that.

Late 2006 one in my family were committed voluntary because the individual were about committing suicide due to depression by not eating the life-supporting medicin. It was a so-called semi-open unit. No cords, a closed but not locked door, single bed room with absolutely no hiding spaces, clothed being checked for belts - anything that could be used wrongly. I had to visit the individual and be present while using a shaver etc. But there were no specific levels, privileges like walking down to the store inside the hospital, walking on the property, off the property were decided every day on a meeting. The individual were kicked out after 16 days and transferred to day-treatment because the family took over working shifts monitoring the progress. It was hard.

Why are there not places out there where people are treated with somewhat decency and where they dont have to earn things?

Facility Question and Answers / CCM
« on: January 10, 2008, 03:26:17 PM »
CCM girl 1989 is a poster who had been at this place for years. She was also been at Cross Creek Manor, which explains the CCM.

She has stated that Heritage RTC was the best place, she has been at. But as she also had explained there was no room at home for her because there was a step-mom.

Short to say: A New family life and she belonged to the old one, so she was out.

Because she state that is was a good place, some posters dont appreciate her statements. I respect it because I have not been there and from what I can see there are red lights by the facility, but worse - much worse - are seen.

I help out with two watchpages and an article is underway, but until that I think that you should read these links and consult these myspace groups. The best statements are always made by those, who have actually been there:

Survivor groups:
Heritage RTC, Myspace
Survivors of Heritage RTC
Heritage RTC Provo tread on Facility Question and Answers in this forum

Please notice that your offspring will live there for very long time

Average length of stay is 14 months. Minimum length of stay is six months. We do have clients who stay as long as two years.

That is a long time to be away from home and with their communication policy. The first two week are there NO CONTACT. Then there are calls with a therapist present every second week. The quistion you have to ask yourself is: How can my child tell me if anything is wrong there? Remember: They have to make money in order to stay in business. Would you as a businessowner not be tempted to hide errors?

Then look at the workbook on page 34 - the hot seat exercise:

Your child is placed in a seat and then the other kids, who also must have some kind of problem in order to be there are allowed to criticize your child. All of them in turn!

How can that improve the self-confidence?

As I said above. I see some red flags, I would use months to investigate in order to ensure the safety of my child. But it is not my child and I dont know why he or she has to be removed from the home and extended family network (The facility let the child talk to you - not the rest of the family).

I have offered to mail CCM girl, so you can write with her. If you want me to, then write me.
