The Troubled Teen Industry / Contact Representative George Miller
« on: September 18, 2007, 10:32:43 AM »
Contact Representative George Miller and demand that the bill, that he authored, to end the abuse of teens in programs, H.R. 1738, not be turned into token legislation by the industry, and natsap, that accomplishes nothing. This bill is not the war but is a major battle. Our voices must be heard on this issue for the sake of all those who were abused and those being abused right now. The industry desperately wants to keep the status quo, dont let them.

Contact Representative George Miller and let your voice be heard.

And don't forget to contact your State's Congressmen and women and urge the passage of bill H.R. 1738

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / AARC and already abused children
« on: September 14, 2007, 10:59:20 PM »
How would AARC deal with kids who came in abused. What would happen if they talked about it? I know the answer but I'm asking to benefit the ignorant among us, willfully and otherwise.

The Troubled Teen Industry / SAMHSA is this like a NATSAP
« on: September 09, 2007, 01:53:18 AM »
Well?

I'm curious because I have something in mind, if SAMHSA is like a NATSAP or basically an enemy in the fight against child abuse I won't bother with them.

Teen Accused Of Raping Another Boy At Chad Youth Center

WSMV Nashville

August 31, 2007

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -- A 13-year-old boy who was a resident at the Chad Youth Center in Montgomery County has been charged with rape.

The boy is accused of victimizing another resident, who was also 13, on Sunday.

They family of the victim said they are not upset just because their son was allegedly the victim of a sexual assault by another teen, but because of how Chad officials reacted.

Her alleged victim and a Chad supervisor called the mother Sunday about 9:30 p.m. on Sunday to say the son had been sexually assaulted.

A Kentucky family of the alleged victim has hired a lawyer because of the incident.

"The entire family is very upset about the entire incident and very concerned about the son's well-being," said the alleged victim's family attorney, Rebecca Blair.

"She asked if the police were notified. She was told their protocol was to contact child protective services," said Blair.

The mother asked if her son had been taken to the hospital, but Chad again said that was not their protocol.

“If a child has been raped, how are you going to prove it if you don't bring them for a physical exam to a hospital?" asked reporter Nancy Amons.

"I would agree with you," said Blair.

At the mother's insistence, her son was taken to Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville, where he was examined. It wasn't until after midnight that the police were called by the hospital, not the youth center.

"How does the family feel about the way Chad handled things?" asked Amons.

"They are very upset about it," said Blair. "They're certainly investigating their rights."

There are many unanswered questions. For example, where was the staff when the alleged attack occurred?

As Channel 4 has previously reported, Chad has been criticized by state officials for chronic understaffing and for failing to report incidents to the state.

The suspect who was arrested on Monday is from Philadelphia, which contracts with the youth center to treat children. Some of the children are accused criminals, some are neglected and some are mentally ill.

The teen who was the alleged victim in this case had not been accused of any crime. His parents had sent him to Chad for therapy, and he has returned home.

A Philadelphia 17-year-old died at Chad in June during a scuffle with the staff. The cause of death for Omega Leach has still not been released.

Tacitus' Realm / Scary: California outlaws the forced subdermal RFID tag
« on: September 04, 2007, 06:19:23 PM »
You would think that it would be common sense that something like this is illegal, but again we need laws to protect us from the crazies that are adamant about bring us in to the future that is 1984. I'm just terrified that someone would even try something like this....

California outlaws the forced subdermal RFID tagging of humans

Worrying that your employer will force you to stick a small chip beneath your skin ranks low on the list of employee concerns in most parts of the country, but that didn't stop the state of California from passing a bill last week to ban such forced tagging of humans. The state senator who sponsored the bill called forced RFID tagging the "the ultimate invasion of privacy," and his bill is now on its way to the governor's desk for his signature

Senate Bill 362 "would prohibit a person from requiring, coercing, or compelling any other individual to undergo the subcutaneous implanting of an identification device," and a similar version has already passed the state Assembly. Joseph Simitian, who came up with the idea, laments the fact that the RFID industry does not appear to find his idea a good one.

"I think it's unfortunate and regrettable that the industry hasn't come out in support of SB 362," he said in a statement after the bill passed the Senate. "I understand why we're having a robust debate about the privacy concerns related to RFID, but at the very least, we should be able to agree that the forced implanting of under-the-skin technology into human beings is just plain wrong.  I'm deeply concerned that this isn't a given for the industry -more

The Daily Record

After a six-hour deliberation, a six-person jury found Randall Hinton — the project manager and co-founder of the Royal Gorge Academy boarding school — guilty of one count each of third-degree assault and false imprisonment.

However, jurors felt there was enough reasonable doubt to find the defendant not guilty of four other counts of third-degree assault and one count of false imprisonment as the week-long trial ended late Friday evening.

In a trial that featured references to everything from red ants, feminine hygiene products, swastikas, “The Da Vinci Code,â€

This information is for all wanting to file a complaint with the State of Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities. If you were abused in a program in Tennessee you should file a complaint, at the least it will be on record and investigated. This may not get a program shutdown but it does get the word out to the State and robs them of the "we didn't know" excuse once the shit hits the fan.

  • Call 1-866-777-1250
  • You will need the name of the program and your complaint, that's basically it
  • The State will log your complaint and contact the inspector for that facility who will investigate the complaint. The complaint may be forwarded to another Agency when appropriate
  • You will need to call back for updated information about your complaint or they may call you depending on what happens
I don't believe that the complaint will be given a special number or code you could use when checking the status of the complaint. So when you make your complaint ask again how you check the status of the complaint

Even if your program is not licensed the State will still investigate to determine if the program is operating illegally. I would assume that they could also check to see if a program is licensed inappropriately.

Now for parents checking out Programs in Tennessee, you can call a number to checkout complaints filed against a facility by calling a different number.

  • Call 865-594-6551 and ask about the program
  • The complaints will not be logged with specifics. They are just listed under the type of complaint like 3 critical incidents or whatever. Still useful but not specific
Again this won't bring down a program but it's a step. The more people that file official complaints, the better the step.

p.s, I have the official rules and regulations programs in Tennessee have to follow. I Made some easier to read edits of these rules that focus on client rights and rules regarding isolation and restraint. I'll upload these whenever I figure out how and post a download link. With this information you can check to see if any specific rules were broken in regards to your rights.

EDIT:Download the Tennessee rules and regulations here. The edited documents cover Client Rights and Isolation and Restraint. The unedited documents contain the same rules and regulations mentioned above as well as the rules and regulations that govern Patient-Resident Work programs and Personnel Conduct towards Patient-Residents

Ha,ha,ha.... This is getting ridiculous, I'm starting to think that all of these family values "I hate gays" right wingers are gay. Seriously Foley, Hastared,  that married guy(Governor I think), and now this guy:

Quote
WASHINGTON - Under fire from leaders of his own party, Idaho Sen. Larry Craig on Tuesday said the only thing he had done wrong was to plead guilty after a complaint of lewd conduct in a men’s room. He declared, “I am not gay. I never have been gay.â€
