I guess I'm the only one around here still obsessed with the world cup, but that's all good. Anyone just watch that Portugal vs. England match? England got a raw deal, but whatever, Portugal's legit, and they'd both be fucked in the next round anyways.

However, I think this was the most memorable game in the world cup for one reason. Remember back when you played youth soccer, like U-12, U-10, U-8 leagues and shit like that? Remember how everyone was always getting called for illegal throw-ins because they'd throw the ball a different direction than their head/body were facing? On the pro level, I thought that was one of those things like traveling in the NBA...either no one's dumb enough to do it, or it's such a juvenile call that the refs just never call it.

Guess I was wrong. When the Portuguese winger threw an illegal throw-in and got called for it late in the 2nd half, that marked the first time EVER that I've seen someone at the college-level or above get called for an illegal throw-in. I personally thought it was hysterical.

But anyways, Portugal steals Ghana's crown for taking the most dives and faking the most injuries in a 2006 world cup game so far. I'm sure they'll outdo themselves in the semi's since that's the ONLY way they'll have a prayer of advancing to the finals. I mean seriously, doesn't matter if Brazil or France wins today, they'll both wipe the floor with those babies.

Ronaldinho and the boys in yellow are going to smoke the damn French anyways. Viva Brasil!

Haha, I smoked some salvia and shat out a sage leaf once, that's how I knew it was naturally occurring.

Guest,

Malt, hops, barley, yeast, etc....those are all naturally occurring (or hell, maybe some of them aren't and then your argument is completely whacked). Alcohol, however, is just a derivative of those ingredients. So alcohol (for the most part) contains natural ingredients, but it is not a naturally occurring substance.

But whatever the fuck ever, whether it's natural or not, it gets you fuckin' faded baby! And England and Portugal kick off in 10 minutes so it's time to break out the Coronas.

Wow what a game between Germany and Argentina, that late goal was absolutely beautiful. I had looked at my buddy right as Ballack was bringing it up the side and I was like "Ballack's gonna cross in a beauty right here and they're gonna tie it up". I can only hope no one scores a golden goal and this thing goes to a shootout baby.

Man, how could you be cheering for Ghana? I was so glad they finally started getting called for their pathetic dives and fake injuries, I was absolutely thrilled to see Gyan get thrown out for taking a dive in the box towards the end of the game. I've been really disappointed with the officiating, almost as much as I have been with all the faking injuries. I'm 3/4 Italian and even I was horrified to see them win that game on such a ridiculous call. And as much as Brazil outplayed Ghana, Adriano was clearly about a mile and a half offsides when he scored that goal. Of course, my vote for the worst call of the last 8 games has to be the one that led to France's second goal yesterday. Since I've had to watch every game in Spanish so far, I still have no idea what the ref was thinking there.

But hey, refs will be refs, and every game has been pretty gamn good, my personal favorite being that Portugal vs. Netherlands game, with all the fighting. You see dude lose his shoe and get it kicked away by the guy guarding him? Or how about dude getting kicked right in the collarbone?

I don't know which is going to be better, Argentina vs. Germany or Brazil vs. France, but I do know that Italy's winning it all baby.

Wow...I feel really bad for this guy.

I honestly don't remember the name of the spot, it was on Prince Street about a block East from Hanover. Nice little place, the whole front wall was wide open to the street so there was a big crowd out front smoking and cheering for the Italians. All the US fans had gotten there early and locked up tables near the TV's, so we were pretty much surrounded by Italians. Fortunately soccer's a game of class...I was half expecting it to turn into something like a Sox vs. Yanks game at Cask n' Flaggon when the red cards started flying.

Haha I really want to know who this kid is. I go to school up the coast from Venice and my friend actually lives right around the corner from Rose and Third on Hampton. Those are some of the funniest bums in Los Angeles although they can get a little nasty sometimes. And you have to be careful at night...there was a box just sitting in the road kind of off to the side where we wanted to park once. My buddy jumped out and tried to kick it off towards the curb and someone was sleeping in it. But Sasha the Canuck chances are you don't even know who this fool is...some people like to just talk shit here anonymously to people they don't even know because they don't have shit else to do. It's kind of funny actually, in a really sad sort of way.

Dude, we are talking about 2 completely different situations. The hell kind of place are you talking about people being sent? I mean yeah, if they're gonna get kidnapped and sent to some place where they're gonna get raped in the ass, of course I'd say run. Sleep on the streets. Fuck man, I was homeless, bouncing from friend to friend and girl to girl for a bed or a couch or a floor to sleep on, for 8 months when I ran away from CEDU. But I woke up one day and decided the prospect of living like that for the rest of my life was a worse option than going back and finishing that piece of shit program.

I guess I just didn't make my original point clear enough. I'm not saying that you should, no matter what, stick around and get kidnapped. All I'm saying is you should think of a better course of action than just running away and sleeping on the streets.

Obviously. Hey man, if you're content living that life, then fuck, more power to you! Run!! Go enjoy life!!

But I'm saying that any life where you don't live up to your potential is a waste. Don't be sorry for me, I'm perfectly content with the path I chose. Whatever, it's pointless arguing, we obviously don't  place the same values on education. [ This Message was edited by: dniceo7 on 2006-06-19 08:31 ]

I never said it couldn't be done, I just said I could never be content with such a shitty life. But apparently you could, so enjoy.

I didn't come looking for a fight, all I wanted to do was point out that it's not so black and white. [ This Message was edited by: dniceo7 on 2006-06-19 08:27 ]

Well, sounds like you have it all figured out. They can go clean toilets under the table for the rest of their life. Or have some gay sugar daddy "benefactor" in another state (that they probably met online). Fuck, what was I thinking, I should've done that. Instead of being in law school right now I could be working under the table at a pet supply store or something. [ This Message was edited by: dniceo7 on 2006-06-19 08:24 ]
