My Conclusions

The people that I would most like to hear from on this matter are CH, Nazi and Black Gay Jew...

« on: December 07, 2003, 11:19:00 PM »
I posted this request somewhere last night - now I can't remember which thread or even what forum it was & I'm tired of looking...

Could someone please post a link pointing to where this whole flame war started? I'd like to look back and see how it all unfolded. Anyone?

It's almost like a cartoon come to life. A
gospel-oriented punkette singer calling herself "Pink" belts it out about the "troubled life" on SNL. Women backup singers with mohawks smile. It's 2003. Anything goes, and it's all a bunch of bullshit anyway. No one is offended. It's all good. The drummers kick ass. Older black guys with tattoos. Where the hell did that young lass hook up with the likes of them? Open mike night? (I speak from experience there) A good performance. She's a troubled girl who had a troubled life that was her story from what I can remember from a TV interview. Anybody got some good legal drugs? I wanna get high. There's nothing wrong with that. There's nothing wrong with killing someone if they piss you off enough. It's cool. You could get famous by doing it. At least in the local papers. When I was 16 I
struggled like hell to become a "punk rocker." I felt it to the core of my being. Fuck school, I said and I meant it. It WAS boring and useless just like the lyrics in some of those songs said. It was a reality that gripped my soul. Damaged by Black Flag. For a Rotting young Vegetable like myself, there was Fresh Fruit. I was Thirsty and Miserable. THERE'S NO RELIEF FOR A PERSON LIKE ME. But now...We're free and easy, and we don't care. We'll take our Holidays in the Sun and talk about our Problems...

I've got television
I've got supervision
No decisons for you
Media blitz-media Blitz
Immediate hits-we rule

Don't steal your eyes off the TV screen
Can you realize we're what we've seen
Take an injection from the mad machine

Don't read the papers read between the lines
We're vision rapers and we seed the signs
You'll play your part in the master mind

We feed the science
We deal in riots
We play by ideal time
We're a gov'ment fix
All social convicts
Watch the idle rhymes

Bleed your heart out-that's all it's worth
Before you ever start-we planned it first
Forget the truth-acceptyour curse

Open Free for All / Registered Email
« on: December 02, 2003, 10:07:00 AM »
Now that the U.S. government has come in to save us all from spam, the serious worrying can start. I've read the Constitution and, honestly, I don't see anything in there about spam or e-mail. There is something in there about Congress regulating interstate commerce. I suppose if they can stretch that to make a federal law creating "drug-free school zones," they can feel proper in regulating spam.

Of course, like many laws, the anti-spam legislation fights the symptoms and not the disease. The symptoms are spam: unwanted e-mail, or e-mail that's not specifically addressed to me, that speaks mistruths in the Subject line, contains garbage, and is sent over and over and over. The disease is the fact that e-mail cannot be verified.

Had Congress passed a law that said, "All e-mail sent between the various states should contain a valid, verifiable, originating address," that would have been enough to stop the problem. But they didn't. Lord only knows what they did.

As far as I'm concerned, the spam problem isn't solved. In fact, any codifying that the government does merely means that the rules spammers can break or ignore are simply written down. Or, better still, that the spammer's lawyers can examine the written Word of Law and easily find the loopholes and simple methods for dodging the law. So spam is going to get worse.

What this means for you and me is that we'll soon see a boost in what I call registered e-mail services. There will be a few dozen of these companies at first. What they'll offer is clean, spam-free, virus-free, and serious e-mail. All the e-mail you receive via registered e-mail will be legitimate. It will all be just for you. It will all be from real people. No junk.

Yep, you'll have to pay more for registered e-mail, probably about $20 per month or more depending on how much e-mail you send or receive. And eventually one or two big registered e-mail companies will swallow up all the small fry. Then, about two years after this idea really takes off and everyone is using it, Microsoft will claim that they thought of it first, do a mediocre implementation that we're all forced to use (and built into Windows Ten-Zillion), and then put all the other companies out of business. Oh, but that's too much of a fantasy, isn't it?

Anyway, don't be surprised to see registered e-mail loom on the horizon as this dang spam issue continues to snowball out of control.

Open Free for All / The irony I have observed in Democrats
« on: November 27, 2003, 11:22:00 PM »
Democrats are the first ones to say that automobiles are killing the environment. Automobiles do cause pollution, so why don't Democrats quit buying cars? Why is it that I often see expensive cars and low fuel effiency SUVs with bumper stickers for Democrat politicians? Why is it that I also see old beat-up cars burning oil and blowing clouds of grey smoke also bearing bumper for Democrat politicians? If these people REALLY subscribe to the Democrats' playbook, then they better repair their cars or ideally just quit driving. Ah ha! You say that Republicians are guilty of these same things, therefore I shouldn't be talking. Well, sure, but you don't hear us bitching about SUVs and all that. No one likes pollution, and we should to enforce the anti-pollution laws we have before enacting more.

On a similar subject, it is also very ironic that Democrats drive expensive cars and live in expensive homes. Isn't the Democratic party the party of the poor person? Why don't these people sell their expensive belongings and give the money to the government so that it can be used for social programs? If they don't want to do that, they can walk into any place of worship and make a donation that will be used much more efficiently to help people in need than any government program.

Have you ever noticed that Democrats claim to be the party of the "Working man"? They imply that wealthy people don't work. They imply they wealthy people somehow got their wealth through some illegal means. Did it ever occur to a Democrat that a person may have become rich by working very, very hard? I guess they didn't consider this option. Did it also occur to Democrats that there are just about as many wealthy Democrats as Republicians? I guess the Dems don't like to make it known to the populace that some of Dems have tons of money. The reason for all of this is that Democrat politicians believe that the common man should be enriched through government handouts, but not by actually working hard and getting ahead. This gives the Democrat policians control over the populace. Sounds like a Socialist government to me.

(No, I didn't author this..FR13)

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / -name edited out-
« on: November 26, 2003, 02:04:00 PM »
From another thread on the Teen Help Industry Forum:

Quote
4. Passive resistance. Another way to make them think you are psycho and let you out. Simply shut down. Refuse to speak, refuse to listen, refuse everything. Passive resistance (for a good example read "Bartleby") is probably the most frusrating thing in the world for a person to deal with. If you really want to scare them, refuse to eat.

When I was in straight there was a guy who went this route, and then some. He had pale blue eyes and looked kind of like a goat (I don't mean this depreciatingly..you know how people sometimes remind you of animals) or maybe a little like Zachary Taylor (played Dr. Smith on "Lost In Space.") Anyway, right from the start, he refused to walk. In was a major hassle for anyone to take him anywhere. I can still remember him being held up by the beltloop while he sagged stubbornly in the rows of chairs. He got put into intake rooms frequently. He would start in with completely surreal monologue. Like pretending he was holding twinkies, for instance. He got called on to relate once and said, "I AM Straight Incorporated!" I nearly fukkin died laughing inside at that one. It was hilarious, especially under the circumstances. Christ, he was weird. He would stand up and start talking about something absurdly typical and then pretend that he was crying. Matt Lyle started confronting him once and he kept repeating everything he would say. He'd also do things like stay awake for days on end, making life hell for whoever was lucky enough to be his oldcomers. They needed to do shifts with him. I felt sorry for Mike Salvini when I read an obs he had written begging staff to do something about him. Todd got out in a couple weeks. It was when the lawyers were there in VA straight. (Anyone else remember this?) I even overheard them interviewing him telling them why he thought that he shouldn't be there. He sounded as normal as could be...

The underground history of American education : a schoolteacher's intimate investigation into the problem of modern schooling

I started reading the prologue to this, available here.
It's re-affirming the notion that I wasn't such a fool for not being that into school.
And see, I can rhyme..

Someone suggested that we ignore Carey...I have to admit, as much as I feel compelled to get up in her face, maybe ignoring her would be the best way to deal with her...  ::hehehmm::
