...The owner of Horizon Academy, is Jade Robinson. A man who, when he was administrator at Casa By The Sea (raided and shut down for abuse) in Mexico, tackled, restrained and sat on me for hours because on my first day I started crying and demanded to talk to my mother. During the struggle I received a HUGE gash on my leg from the broken tile in the bathroom where I was held for 2 weeks, I slept and ate there as well.

I have been told that during the struggle of ABUSING me Jade Robinson received a scratch which was the "reason" that both Dace Goulding and Jade Robinson recommended that I be shipped to High Impact (raided and shut down for abuse) where I was nothing short of TORTURED for 2 months straight, until they had decided to "let me" come back to Casa By The Sea.

This same thing happened to many girls and I can assure you that Jade Robinson had everything to do with it. In fact once Jade left, to open up Bell Academy (now defunct) in California the ritualistic beatings seemed to dwindle off. (I also never saw that special torture bathroom be used again) So do you think Jade isn't abusing kids at Horizon? maybe because its a US school he cant or maybe he just had his fill in Mexico but I would still never trust my child near that man.

Thanks for the quote, good thinking I was about to reiterate and we all wouldn't want that lol...

Were all surprised that this kid is 19 and instead of just arranging his exit plan he fled into the desert, but doesn't that give you definitive insight that this school is most definitely a lockdown (not to mention abusive) facility? He obviously didn't have any access to a phone to call home (although the problem being his parents are the reason he is still there) nor anyway to make take his leave safely, yet he risks his life to ESCAPE this place. There is most definitely a reason that "camp" is in the middle of the desert, wwasp would rather their detainees die than escape their money grubbin grasp.

Simply put, a wwasp school = private prison just the same as a wwasp employee = scumbag... follow the trail these monsters leave behind and you will find a multitude of broken families and ruined lives in their wake. These men are sick and demented and deserve nothing less than to rot in a jail cell for their crimes against humanity, yet instead they are hired as deans and administrators of schools and permitted to open up new private prisons even though every other place they worked was shut down siting evidence of child abuse.

WAKE UP PEOPLE!!

was thinking tho, that this would be another article that would be well suited to be discussed on Topix...

good article.

I can't agree more, the overuse and misuse of detention is one of the main complaints I have about the facility I was in, I was in detention for about 90% of my 2 years at casa and I was not allowed to do any school work in that time, resulting in not having enough credits to have passed the 10th grade when I was released at age 17.

The other main issue here is what constitutes a punishable offense. Most of these programs have rules that have simply been distorted in order to punish a student for anything a staff or jr staff can think of... this kind of corruption is so often found in these environments primarily because of the way the system is set up, pitting detainees against other detainees in order to advance in the program.

If I hadn't experienced it myself, I would only be able to describe the program as some kind of sick and twisted social experiment.

911 will be effective because of the private citizens who don't accept compromises with shitholes.

What can private citizens do if there is no agency to facilitate their concerns being properly investigated?

I really don't think any amount of dumpster diving is going to take down the TTI, we need to demand that our government do its fucking job to protect it's citizens, especially minors who's parents are the ones putting them in danger.

So many times have I tried to rally us all to create a private advocacy group dedicated to investigating and reporting abuse, but no one has the time or money to make that happen. The only way parents and kids will have somewhere to go for help is if the government is willing to fund an agency. OF COURSE there will be a lot of work to do before this agency would be able to properly regulate, and I'm hoping for more legislation for complete abolishment of the TTI, but I think that HR 911 will serve as a good stepping stone to get to that point. I'm sure our government would rather pass a law to put these monsters out of business than to continue to pay for an operational regulation agency, but they might need to see that for themselves first.

I say pass it, and as soon as we've seen success at least getting people to recognize the cause, we should have more leverage to pass more laws leading to the abolishment of the practices used in the TTI. Until then, if this is all we have in way of progress I say either support it or stay out of the way. All the "what if's" and "didn' work before's" is only hurting our chances of getting SOMEWHERE with this cause... progress is progress! It might not be perfect but its a step in the right direction and I can't seem to find enough reason to oppose this progress.

another good way would be to find the recent article about the girl gone missing from CALO on Topix, there should be a lot of parents reading and commenting there.

cheeya... why does every topic involving a parent have to turn into an epic fight?

Thank you CG for your concern and I think it would be a good idea as well for you parents to put your heads together, but just to warn you, I don't know how many of those you'll find at Fornits.

Do you know of any CALO support groups you can attend? You might want to try making some contacts there. Does CALO have any seminars? You will have to find ways to connect with parents who are not already aware of the issues if you want to do any good. My favorite is the seminar intervention, pass out flyers and ask some revealing questions. You might have some luck on myspace or facebook as well, maybe creating a group for former CALO students and or parents and just talk to them about their experiences, I can promise you, you'll hit a gold mine of info from former students who no longer have allegiance to CALO.

May I just say one little thing?

Licensing and regulation can only do so much, which as we've seen in the past isn't nearly enough.

BUT

The point of HR 911, and the reason I support it is because at the very least an agency with the sole purpose of regulating these institutions will be created. I don't understand how having a department of law enforcement dedicated to investigating claims of abuse with the authority to walk in and take appropriate action could ever be considered a bad thing....

So maybe this law will allow some programs to slip through the cracks, I get that, its more than a possibility but I think SOME amount of dedicated monitoring is better than the complete LACK of accountability they have now. and its my assumption that as long as there is an abuse hotline and child advocates who are savvy on the specific issues with the TTI, there wont be too much these programs will be able to get away with before they get shut down and charges are brought against the offenders. I personally hope to be involved with this agency, I would honestly dedicate my life to that job and I know many people who would as well.

I know its hard to trust your government, but just think, the people who are pushing this forward, and those who will be selected to be involved with regulation will be the same people who have been fighting this fight all along, perhaps even some of us. Who would have better expertise? So if the problem is that you cant trust the government to do this job correctly then stand up and tell them you want the job, tell them you want to look that scumbag program owner in the face and deny him the license he needs to continue abusing children. Ya know they say, if you want something done right you gotta do it yourself, and since we don't have the kinds of resources we need to open our own advocacy agency we need to rally for the government to fund an avenue for us to be able to do so.

I may be an idealist, but I like to think that the future holds hope for the children currently held in these facilities, this may not be the be all end all solution, we all know we have a long way to go until these kids are safe, but I think this is a step, a very important step.

well said my friend, well said.

Personally I believe the more laws and amendments the government makes the more they are incringing on the average citizens personal responsibility. And even more so gives people little room to make up their own minds about whats wrong and right... Im of the opinion that our society's obession with control only feeds the determination of the individuals who intend to violate the stated moral code. Same goes for drugs... Becuse its considered bad or taboo, regardless of the fact that moderation taught at an early age helps aviod addiction, people in america grow up thinking getting shit tanked is cool, so no amount of laws or donut munching swine will deter their fixation with doing as many drugs as they can get their stupid little hands on. Forgive my detest for the system, but I really think our whole establishment = shit. Wanna talk about taxpayers money? How about the fact that we are currently paying millions of dollars to feed house and provide medical care for prisoners guilty of victimless crimes while child molesters, repeat domestic violence offenders and rapists are being let out on plee bargins simply because we cant afford it. WTF? I propose all the rapists, child abusers and murders just get dropped off on a deserted island and left for dead. Secondly I get pissed that Im paying the salary of the dickfaced cop that decides to pull me over for not wearing my seat belt, FUCK YOU, that SHOULDNT be a law! and I have the right to choose if I take precautions to live or die. The fact that thats a law now is only proof of our state passing off moralistic propaganda just so they can earn more revenue for traffic violations. Makes me want to set fire to the court house.

I really havent done my homework on the projected effect of legalizing all drugs, Im sure there are more than enough pros and cons to make it a hard call, but its obvious spending so much money opposing and trying to neutralize the drug market has only resulted in EPIC FAIL.  Soooo... fuck yo couch nigga.

ahhhhh... Mastering the art of mustering the strength to just go on, one of lifes many but essential lessons. Should I first say I empathize with your plight, irreversable loss is just one of those things that has the power to knock you on your ass regardless of your level of personal strength. I cant imagine what it would feel like to lose something as imporant as a loved one, or home or physical function, but I can understand how hard living with that can be. As the poster before me mentioned, you may be surprised how much strength you gain from this unfortunate experience, however I dont think that means that you arent allowed to seek comfort and support for these hard times. You may find that just expressing yourself, and even allowing yourself to feel and grasp the gravity of your pain can help you to cycle through the stages of greif a little quicker. No one can expect you to simply get over the things that are hurting you but learning how to process it and cope is key. Some of us have some hands on experience, so if you feel comfortable doing so feel free to contact someone privately and I'm sure you will be able to find a shoulder to lean on in your time of need. I'm here, and I vouche for a few others on this site who are genuine, so if you need a friend dont hesitate to ask. In the meantime just try to think happy thoughts, give yourself time to escape to a peaceful quite place in your mind, like a "happy place" and just take it easy. Chin up, this too shall pass.

All my love and best wishes
