i don't think burning a place down is a good idea because it  is too dangerous to nice firemen.

i don't think legislation or regulation is going to do a damn thing to stop the shit either. is it not already illegal to abuse kids by depriving them of privacy, mail, food, proper clothing, etc.? i also think that it would be quite difficult to legislate against the brainwashing/thought control.

That letter makes more sense if you replace every instance of "God" with "The Government".

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / Bob Marley quote

this is a better link. kinda puts Bob Marley and what he says in context with Jamaican history and Rastafarianism.

as much as i despise the panty-hosed clan of evil Church-goers...

...The Bible is a book of stories, no more, no less. Religions and individuals put different meanings on it.

so was Bob Marley speaking as a religion-practicing person when he referenced the story of Daniel in the Lion's Den, or was he speaking as a person who had read a story and found some allegorical or metaphorical (whatever) meaning in it that he wanted to get across?

does that make sense? i hope that makes sense. i really don't know anything about Rastafarianism. i guess i'm just wondering if anyone can ever reference a Bible story without being accused of using a bad source. i think if i ever read it in the future -- and i don't even want a bible in the house because it would remind me too much of the Church and Sunday School b.s. -- i would be interested in reading it more as a cultural history. what were people's myths, their codes of conduct, how did they live and treat each other, that kind of thing.

but Christianity i feel as oppression. so now i understand.

yeah, and "The Lord is My Shepherd..."   that would make me a sheep. i reject that. i reject the lies. i was subjugated to enough X-tian bullshit about God's love, my parents' love, and other crap, in and after Straight! what is this? what the fuck kind of religion lets parents lock their children away to have their minds destroyed?

where the dogs of society howl
you can't plant me in your penthouse
i'm going back to my plow
oh, back to the howling old owl in the woods
huntin the horny back toad
i've finally decided my future lies
beyond the yellow brick road

hey that was from memory! i've never gotten an Elton John cd or anything, but that is one song i like.

"Or both?"

that is a righteous thing to say in so many ways. these kids who rioted, they saw through the lies! these are smart kids and i am REAL proud of them!

"...Kay said to be wary of abuse allegations, since they often come from troubled teens with a history of lying."

that is exactly what Executive Staff said about abuse allegations coming out of Straight. as recently as 1992! even after all the lawsuits and the known bullshit! Suzanne Hardmann Lovelace AND Joy Margolis were at Straight at the time when a friend of mine was put on "consequences" like 90 second cold showers. i was physically restrained on the floor for trying to get my arms out of the grip of two girls who were "motivating" them for me -- that means, i refused to "motivate", which is flapping your arms over your head to get called on, so they sat two girls next to me to make me! many people witnessed abuse during the tenure of these two women. i myself got an infection that went for a week without medical attention until i landed up in the hospital and i could have died! and Suzanne Lovelace and Joy Margolis were there at the time, Executive Staff, like I was saying, and they gave the same old line that Ken Kay is giving. see the links below. and you wonder why many of us old program vets have so little patience for the lies. we have heard them all before.

"...Although Layne's experience with the facility was a nightmare, his mother believes the WWASPS programs may be a way for some teens to turn their lives around but she wants parents to think carefully before placing their children in a residential treatment center.

"I totally blame myself," Cameron said."

either Cameron is being misquoted or taken out of context or something, or she doesn't understand the inherent force and subjugation in these power and control systems, and as Cayo and Greg have pointed out recently, the fundamental brainwashing/thought reform practices that are incredibly damaging although they are still not well understood and are a more complicated and less sensational -- in terms of media -- part of the story of the Gulags.

it is not an X reference, the story came way before them. although they often appropriate the myths of other cultures, it doesn't make the original myth X-tian.

i am not knowledgeable on the subject but i found a couple of interesting links:
