"Don't be misled by these posts!!!  Hyde has it's flaws, but the school are run very well.  If you look into that happens at ANY boarding school, there are some of the same concerns.  Half the senior class was kicked out of a pretigeous boarding school in CT last year for drinking and sex, a friend who is Dean of Students at one of the nation's oldest and most prestigeous boarding schools, suspends or expells students for breaking rules on a weekly basis!

All private schools are 501(c)(3) Non profits.  Again, look at the 990's for any school and you'll see that Hyde's salaries are WAY under the norm, and the fund raising is also a lot less.  Exeter's Annual Fund is 5 million... Hyde's is $450K per campus.  Exeter's Head makes well over $400K per year..Hyde's highest paid is Malcolm Gauld who after Salary and benefits has a hard time reaching $200K.

So Puleeeese, put hese concerns into perspective.

Thank you!"

THANK YOU GOD! Someone who actually isnt a babbling cry baby!!! Great post, keep it up! And I don't even have know one single thing about Hyde to know that.

Tell you what...you compile a list of successful Hyde graduates and I'll compile a list of successful Exeter grads (I'll cut you some slack and not pick Andover) and then we can both post them here...you game?

Man...that's a pretty tall order for a place to live GTBF...most of the criteria that you require will most likely put you somewhere with a high cost of living...but knowing that Long Island isn't cheap...I'll take a stab at offering a few suggestions.

Somewhere on the Mayan Riviera would suit me perfectly...but then we're not talking about me here...lol.

I would suggest looking into a college town...they would meet most of your requirements...it's just a matter of where.  Here's a few to ponder in no particular order. Some may seem "conservative" or even "religious" because of the state...but even in these states there are bastions of liberalism...and they are pretty much all in the college towns.

Austin TX
Lawrence KS
Columbia MO
Flagstaff AZ
Chico CA
San Luis Obispo CA

Sounds like I want you to take a roadtrip and see some places for yourself.  Hang out in each place for a few days and see what the "feel" is like.  Each of these towns/cities have their own unique flavor to them but they are all highly regarded.  Austin personally didn't do it for me...not that it was a bad place...it just didn't feel like home.

Washington & Oregon are also great places but you have to deal with the grey skies quite often and they do get cold in the winter...although not Siberia Cold.

On the topic of revenge...well...as I have said before...not my style...but since you are looking for where you might want to live (as I have been doing for the last year) I figures I'd throw in my 2c.[ This Message was edited by: OKB4RMA on 2006-02-22 17:44 ][ This Message was edited by: OKB4RMA on 2006-02-22 17:45 ]

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / what if it was even worse than we thought

no...never been overseas...unless you are talking about the carribean where I actually have gone to de-stress at times...but by 6th sense...hard to describe...more than a heightened perception...kind of like singing a song in your head and then it comes on the radio...thinking that someone is going to call you...and then they do...stuff like that.

And does this hold true for the EST and Lifespring styled workshops and other propheets that we went through at RMA or is this something that is exclusive to StraightInc.?

Very thought provoking post Str8survivorVA...on a slightly different subject...does anybody ever feel like they have some sort of "sixth sense"?

I wasn't the person that posted their death notices although it saddens me very much.

Alex Van Rensselaer was one of the kindest people at RMA and a good friend.  I have two wonderful drawings that he completed for my scrapbook and a page full of photos of him.  I couldn't hold back the tears while looking at them.  I'm not sure suicide was the cause of death but googling him shows that his family was an active supporter of NARSAD, a mental health advocacy group so I wonder if he had some sort of illness. Regardless, the world lost a wonderful person.

Jason Wrather was my little brother at RMA...he was also an artist and a good friend.  What saddens me most is that he died the day before I went to Seattle and had his memorial service the day before I came home.  Had I known sooner I would have attended.  I'm not aware of the cause of death for him either.

Jason and Alex...you are both in my prayers and will live on forever in my memories.

I wouldn't have gone on to college myself if RMA was the only help...they didn't really encourage it there either.  There was a little SAT prep for me, but I'm pretty sure that it was because my mom was an Ivy League (UofP) grad so she was quite the education nazi.
