Me too.

Antigen, Hyde never was a lock down. It has
always been sort of a "gulag-lite". The threat
they hold over your head to keep you there is
what the WWASP people call an "exit plan".
In '76 no one tried to stop me from running away.
They just told my parents to kick me out on the
street. Oppositional Defiance has said, however,
that the escorts show up to take people to
Redcliff now so I think they've changed some
policies since then.

Yeah, Tommy, I remember all that. And I had a friend who's little step brother wound up there for a few months. She told me quite a bit about the weirdness of parent weekend and how the parents were creeped out by that. They were going to let him finish the semester or the year or something. Then, the final straw, they kid told them he couldn't visit or talk on the phone or some such. And it wasn't that he was prohibited; it was that he felt guilty about something and said he needed to stay in the chapel and pray till he felt better. He was going on 3 days straight, I think.

It's definitely the same ol'e mindfuck as ever. I'm just not sure how closely they watch the kids. I'm guessing it's pretty close for the new kids. But higher levels surveil themselves.

Either way, I do think it's probably a bad idea for this kid to give out his Hyde.edu email address. But then again, he may be a troll. No offense to you if you're for real. Please understand that it has happened before many times that a program mole will pretend to be a critic in order to bust the IDs of real critics  or get other sensitive info and/or trick them into making actionable statements.

I'm not talking specifically about Hyde here. Just the industry in general. And ya gotta know that those parent support groups and edcons like to pass along tips and tricks like that.

Paranoid yet?

Don't be skeerd. But do be skeptical and careful.

The worst government is the most moral. One composed of cynics
is often very tolerant and human. But when fanatics are on top,
there is no limit to oppression.
