"@hyde.edu" e-mail addresses?

Antigen, I just got a personal message from a kid
at Hyde. I think he's a current student at Hyde
because he included an e-mail address ending in
"@hyde.edu". I sent him a strongly worded PM
back warning him not to use that address again
because Hyde can legally read his traffic at
that address - it's their server, right? Was I
correct in that?
Anyway, Hyde, unique among gulags as far as I can
tell, provides their kids with a computer lab
connected to the 'net. Call me a worry wart but
I can't belive that Hyde ain't reading kids'
e-mails. Also, I told him to post while at home
on vacation lest Hyde be using spyware. Penny
for your thoughts...
Peace,
Tommy
Being sleepy can impair someone's ability to do thier job.  People
can sleep at home and come to the job with sleepiness still in their system. The sleepiness can still be there long after the employee has slept. When someone is found to be sleepy on the job, they can claim that they went to sleep the night before.  The only solution to this problem is to ban employees from sleeping.

sort of on the same subject: are pm's here any safer than emails when it comes to being read or intercepted by the KGB? oh, i mean the CIA. no, wait...

Antigen:
Tommy, you're right. It's also worth noting that Hyde has acquired a .edu domain. Those are reserved for real schools, don't ya' know!

fka, of course I can read PMs. So can the dudes who provide hosting service. I generally don't w/o permission. But yeah, it's all stored in a database that I maintain. If I didn't have access to it then I wouldn't be able to run the software that allows you to read it either.

That's true of every server and their admins. If you don't trust Yahoo, aol, hotmail or any other then don't use their mail service.

i wasn't worried about you reading them, i was thinking of for example a Hyde student being a lot safer in terms of not getting caught if they pm'd people here rather than using any email service. i was joking about the KGB... i only meant the fascist police state and any of their operatives.

Antigen:
Oh, well for the most part, yes, safer (by far!) than using hyde.edu. But, frankly, hotmail or some other would be even safer. Fornits just doesn't have the economic or political muscle of a major corporation to back a confidentiality agreement.

But I'm thinking this kid might know that already and that Hyde is not quite as lock down as it used to be. I'm just not sure. Glad the kid's speaking out and hoping to hear some more from lots more people.
