We need to make room for other people's point of view.

The truth includes the good stuff AND the bad stuff- and dude, it's not gospel, it's just people's opinons.

In Cyberia, there's always plenty of room. Pull up a chair and type away.

History does not record anywhere or at any time a religion that has any rational basis. Religion is a crutch for people not strong enough to stand up to the unkonwn without help. But, like dandruff, most people do have a religion and spend time and money on it and seem to derive considerable pleasure from fiddling with it.

Good and bad, bring it on. Then people can formulate their own opinions. Truth is truth. Everyone has a different threshold for pain, for painful expreriences too. Everyone will take something different from an experience. Most people do move on with their lives.

In fact, some of the girls posting have had a horrible experience. They have felt truly violated, that their lives were damaged in the long run for the experiences they have had at MMS, are now turning their lives around. They are college students working on Masters and Bachelors degrees.

They just want people to know that their successes have been their own, not a result of what they received at MMS. In fact, they had to do years of work to undo the damage. For them, we should have respect and understanding.

They are the ones who found a way to move on even though they had a horrible experience. They should be encouraged to share their experiences now so that others can make educated decisions before sending their daughters there. Some people may agree that attack therapy, and the like, is just what their little girl needs. But others might not find it so therapeutic.

So let's respect everyone here. If you had a good experience then that is great and if you took good things from there, that is great as well. It's important to remember that girls who were there in the 90's seem to be the ones who were most affected by Mercer's night sessions. From what I've read it seems that is becuase Mercer has not spent much time at the school for a while since his babies were born.

But word has it he plans to spend more time there in the future. So if that is true, and I am not sure whether it is or not, but if it is, parents need to know and need to be informed of what goes on before they sign their parental rights over to total and complete strangers.

In fact, for parents who are reading this, no matter where you send your child, if you have to sign over your parental rights, if you are not allowed open and uncensored communication with your child, if you cannot go visit any day of the week you'd like without giving them prior notice, if you feel any sort of discomfort about anything you are signing on a contract, reconsider.

For the money you are spending on these places, there are some wonderful options out there instead. Do the research. Places that are out in the middle of no where making it difficult for anyone to come visit, should be cause for concern. Places that restrict communications of any sort should be cause for concern. Places that ask you to sign over your parental rights should be cause for concern.

If your child is drug-addicted, most insurance companies pay for hospital drug rehabilitation. Why not try that first, along with therapy afterwards. For goodness sake, a parent could quit his/her job to stay home and be with their child rather than pay the unbelievable amounts of money they charge. It's something worth considering.

I'm not sure it's actually legal to sign over custody on a whim like that. I think they tell you that, they believe it's true. But, if I'm not mistaken, it doesn't actually stand up in court.

The memory of my own suffering has prevented me from ever shadowing one young soul with the superstitions of the Christian religion.

I had a great experience and I think its pretty unfair that I am receiving negative judgement for my experience.  Have you seen a post from me bashing those who have had a negative experience?  NO.  And you never will.  I am supportive of their experience, no matter if it differed from my own.  And I am upset that people cannot have the same common courtesy for those of us who have had good experiences.

your not bashing, but the way you keep on saying things makes it seem like "you are right and we are wrong".

I will second that. Please, read the post on "didn't we used to be friends" - the response from the adult who posted who was not there. Gives another perspective.

I don't know... my parents had to go get notarized or something the form giving wilderness custody, as they later told me... I tried to eat it when my escorts were showing it to the police... well I did eat it, but it seemed to hold up with the police. They had to get another copy though.

Aileen, you are awesome and a great laugh! We love you!! That was truly funny. I can just see you stuffing that paper into your mouth, with these guys looking at you like you were nuts and what on earth they should do. I just can't believe you actually ate a whole sheet of paper. How'd you do it without gagging, puking, and so on? You are damn funny girl!!

Wanna see something really hillarious? Go to Haiti and see what happens if you start throwing pennies to the crowd. Those desperate ppl will actually fight each other over pennies! LOL What a hoot!

Desperate people do desperate things.

First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win.
