will you please stop talking about Straight in this forum. The Seed was the real thing. Art deserves all of the credit for what he invented. The other  programs were copycats and because they were copycats they were cheap imitations of Art's design - the original Seed.  Most of you do not even know what you are talking about because you were a product of a copycat program, such  as Straight (that made you believe that they were the real Thing. The only real thing was Sort His Seed. The rest were phonies!

Art did not invent The Seed. It was based on Synanon or on a Synanon copy-cat program.

Most of us probably have a far clearer understanding of the whole picture because 1) we don't consider ourselves to be a product of any particular year or two in any particular program, but a product of our whole life's experience. and 2) we're able to take an overview of the whole troubled parent industry and observe the differences and similarities among all these cultic groups.

I do not believe in the divinity of Christ, and there are many other of the postulates of the orthodox creed to which I cannot subscribe.

aw, give up that "the seed was original" schmeel. It was a crappy copy of the synanon blended with AA dogma and cultic techniques, outdated gateway hysteria models of drug use. bad music and shitty food, and hero worship of a little smidgen of a man that was  a not-too-funny washed up actor/comic.

yawn.

Thanks my friend..

A little Seed story for you guys.

When I went into the seed in 1973, I was taken from my mother's house  in Ft Lauderdale under false pretenses, driven  six hours to the St Pete Seed where I was badgered, harrassed and lied to and then held prisoner  against my will.  My mother had little money and was not a confrontational person. However, in spite of this and  unknown to me hired a lawyer who got a judge to issue a court order to have me removed from the seed. The order was sent to St Pete, where someone in the seed entrenched juvenile justice infrastructure alerted the authorities and my father conspired with  a Pinellas juvenile judge friendly to the seed to have  an emergency order issued  overturning the judge in Ft Lauderdale citing a special circumstance that I had admitted in open court to having a drug problem and needing help. This perjury by the judge effectively stopped my mother's efforts.

I  of course had never been in court and was unaware any of this was going on as I sat on that front row, hungry and scared, plotting my escape that never came. This inability to intervene led to my mother being hospitalized with a "nervous breakdown" for about a week severly distraught over watching her kids being held captive and powerless to stop it.

From then on she drove 6 hours from Ft Lauderdale to St Pete twice a week to open meeting where she was openly ridiculed, scorned and even yelled at in the parking lot by other parents, and she  watched in horror the wierdness of the cult displayed in open meeting, unallowed to even speak to me or my sister. After open meeting  her and her husband would drive the 6 hours back home while hurting for both themselves and  what their children were going thru.

Two days ago my mother sob cried to me on her death bed about what transpired way back then to her "babies". I did my best to comfort her and tell her all that was just ancient history and assured her she was my hero for her efforts.

By some miracle or extreme will to live my mom, after being given two hours to live last thursday while in a coma and with the death rattle in her emphysemic lungs, has improved enough to live for another day.

Today publiclly on this forum, I wish to once again thank her for her heroic efforts to save my sister and I from that hot, stinking horrid place that stole what was left of my childhood some 31 years ago.

Greg;
The love of you and your mother is amazing and thank you for letting us see a glimpse of it. I honor your mother and her efforts! She showed true grace in a difficult time.

I am glad you were able to give her a sense of forgiveness and peace about it, it truly must have been a horrible time in her life and yours. No matter how much she told herself she was doing what she could, as a mom myself I can imagine there was still that place in her heart where she wondered if she had done enough and I am glad you were able to give her peace about that.

Blessings to you and your family during this time of transition, may the journey be smooth and filled with love.

We're all thinking of you over here, Greg. Sending comforting thoughts and well wishes to you and all of yours.

Faith is the commitment of one's consciousness to beliefs for which one has no sensory evidence or rational proof. A mystic is a man who treats his feelings as tools of cognition. Faith is the equation of feeling with knowledge.

I'm so sorry to hear of your mother Greg.  A hero indeed.   :nworthy:   My thoughts are with you.

Religion is a byproduct of fear. For much of human history, it may have been a necessary evil, but why was it more evil than necessary? Isn't killing people in the name of God a pretty good definition of insanity?

You know, whoever you are, I read the posts here and I wonder how many "Seeds" were operating at the place where I was kept, SR 84.  If what you are intimating is true, that there also a sexual aspect to brainwashing at The Seed - that's a pretty extreme allegation.  I certainly don't give a rats ass about Art Barker or any of the people who have carried on his legacy and continue to sing his praises in this present life. But if what you are alleging is true, it just causes more questions.

My hope for all of us who were there because the responsible people in our lives bought into the whole "Seed will save your child" mentality is that there will be forgiveness.

Im not sure what exactly you mean with your post. But the comment was an inside joke that I will not elaborate on.

As to the sexual aspect of our "treatment", one just need to think about "boys rap" (or girls rap) where you were encouraged to give up your sexual secrets, asked direct questions about your experiences or lack therof and expected to stand up and confess this to all the other boys (or girls), asked (and often ridiculed if true) whether you were a virgin or not.
In addition, all sexuality was taken from us at a very tender age under threat of extreme punishmen, and we were in trouble for even thinking about "chicks".

As for forgiveness, that is a very individual thing. I can't speak for other people or be so arrogant to suggest others should forgive or forget what happened to them.

As for me personally, I forgive everyone involved and in addition  hope they forgive me for feeling like this website was a necessary thing for people who went thru their little brainwashing program.

As for who I am, my name was greg and I was never a drug addict...

Just  a child prisoner in an Orweillian mind control camp 31 years ago. My seed was behind tyrone mall in St Pete, Florida.

Nice to have your acquaintance.  What year were you in the Lauderdale Seed?

ahhh, the inside joke.  I thought you were serious. But you are right, I guess there was a sexual side to the abuse there - that being the crushing and shaming of all natural human desire.
