Pietra, I will never take back my position on this issue. I never said anything about censorship; you did. So, you can afford to loosen that tight grip you have on the first amendment. I don't see this forum taking away our liberty.
I also never once said anything about not arguing nor did I mention being polite. I merely stated that if people had to register to post here, then it would take away a lot of the childish posters who are obviously bored and have nothing else to do with their lives other than to come here and make a mockery of what it is we are trying to do. They would be accountable for what they say. And I bet that alone would stop a lot of the "trolling", as Greg called it.
I remember coming here and talking to people for the first time like it was just yesterday. I'm so glad I did. But, none of this was happening then. If it had been, I'm not sure I would have bothered. And I'm not talking about the disagreements or lack of "politeness". I am talking specifically about topics on the forum?s main page that are obviously mocking Wes Fager's post about a major talk show. I'm talking about heckling that really takes away from what it is we are trying to do here. This forum shouldn't cater to that, nor should it tolerate it, imo.
Then there's that timeless first amendment whipping child statement "well, who's to say what is offensive?" I think anybody with a decent IQ will know when somebody is here to flame and troll. All you have to do is look at the number of posts they have and how many times they do it to determine how much we value their presence here.
I've made my point as clearly as possible, so I'm done with it. I also know nothing will change as Ginger has stated her view as well, and I accept that and will stop in from time to time.
Thanks Greg for taking a look at it and considering what I said.
Respectfully,
