Is it just me or are the posts on the Kids and straight boards becoming more and more hostile, aggressive and mean? Is it my imagination? I guess the only way to counteract it, is to play nice.

My guess is that it is Virgil himself or one of his cronies trying to make all of us look like crackpots or discredit us. If not, someone sure is proving him right.

Whether it's gay bashing or bordering on pornographic and racist, or just plain nastiness to people who are down and out.  I'm all for free speech, however I do wonder sometimes why there have been threats to edit a few negative comments about someone like... Tammy A. when people can talk about taking a bat to someone's skull for being gay or talk about "niggers" etc.

Just doesn't add up.

I'm against the harshness also, but in all fairness, Tammy was not a nice person.  And I'm speaking of brief encounters outside of the program, not just in there.

But I see what you mean.  There is no room for racist remarks. It's the worst kind of hatred and a high form of ignorance.

oh. I'm not disagreeing with you. Just curious why comments regarding Tammy and some insults or comments are NOT o.k. and statements about taking a bat to someone's head because they are gay or stories featuring "nigger" ARE o.k. I didn't intend to start a new topic about Tammy either. Just thinking this board is pretty boring and mean lately.

I'm all for arguing a point, or a good fight, but why people who are depressed are attacked, or why there is so much intolerance, hatred and harshness doesn't make sense.

It just seems when someone has nothing to further their argument they just resort to inciting and attacking people and calling them names. It's ridiculous.

Because everyone here was brainwashed into becoming mean and full of hate! Some of us chose to take that hatred inwards on ourselves. Some learned to fight it and keep our spirits. Some became viciously bad people - you know the thype of oldcomers I'm talking about - and some people sit down and reads these boards and remember how angry they are that they had to go through this, and they automatically revert back to the way they were taught to react to people.

I myself tend to decide not to "struggle" so that I can "admit powerlessness" and then the pain will be over faster.

No...not because I condone it at all...It's because I do not get to check the message board as much as I like and I havent gotten to read this..I am going to this evening.  Thank you.  I apologize for not being around as much as I am apparently needed.
I really wanted this board to be fun and kinda a place to reminice (sp) about ANY good time we made a friend, and be able to talk to people who understand what we are going through.  Because as I jusr read in another topic, someone feels the same i do as if no matter how many hours we sat and talked to friends, they didnt get it. they COULDNT get it.  
I didnt want this board to be used for hatred.  i exoected SOME venting once in a while, we're human, but I am going to read this other stuff right now.  I already dont like what I hear.  I feel like a MOM right now.  Dammit children!  Seriously, please dont make me edit things.  I believe in free speech too, like I have said, but not out and out hatred and threats.

I didn't care for Tanmy A back then.  But Lord knows I don't know her now.  It's been over a decade.  She could be a whole new person.  She went thru this LIKE WE DID.  Why are
you all so anxious to condemn people who were victims, like we were?  I hope Tammy is happy - I hope ALL of us find happiness

I think you missed my point. I only brought up Tammy's name because of the threat to edit some of the remarks about her...and, I only bring that up because of all the crap I keep reading that is racist, homophobic, and just nasty if you ask me. The question was about why the posts of Tammy would be edited but not the harsh things I've been seeing.

Did you even read the posts here? I don't see anyone "condemning her." Maybe I missed it.

All I see is one person saying that they did not have a good experience with her in and out of  KIDS. I think there are much worse things being said on this board and many more people actually being condemned, hated and insulted for things that are no fault of their own!

well speaking for myself i know i personally wronged people in and out of kids as we were all a bit deranged. i hope i have grown since that but i'm sure people still dont care for me and thats ok. this is not tammy, but being a felow survivor maybe we should try being alittle more compasionate. i would make amends for ways i wronged people but that could make things worse, i hope this can be a safe place for me to go and vent and chat.
