Straight was always just a microcosm of the macro group anyway ... it all works the same way, except in Straight the soft and pretty dressings were stripped from the dynamic.  If anyone should know better it should be the Straight survivors, who have been to hell and back, but alas we are as sold out as anyone.  The economy itself is a behavior modification program and the more you participate in it, the more money you put in the bank, and the more indirectly you live, the more you become what Straight wanted you to be anyway.  The program was never limited to the simple confines of Straight Inc.  It is the American way.

The trouble is there is really no escape.  One individual seeking justice and living outside the program hardly has a chance without a social group to draw on for support and the things that people need to live.  I've thought about living as a wanderer in the woods, existing by foraging, but I am a social animal and need companionship and love and I think the loneliness would be too brutal, to say the least.  It's a tough pill to swallow, but I think that one must learn to make compromises with the program, without becoming oneself, a submissive-authoritarian fool.
