According to a local newspaper Lakehouse Aftercare (Owned by the same people who also operate
Elk Mountain Academy) was mentioned in relationship with a murder of one of the residents who were living at the facility.
19 year old Michael Wyatt Smith was killed by a local resident after the murdered teen had begun dating a local girl. Later the cabin which housed the facility burned down.
