PASADENA - The pre-trial conference for Pasadena boot camp operator Kelvin "Sgt. Mac" McFarland was delayed again Wednesday, court officials said.
McFarland, who is charged on suspicion of kidnapping, child abuse, false imprisonment, extortion and unlawful use of a badge, will return to Department E of the Pasadena Superior Courthouse on Feb. 22 for the continuation of his pre-trial conference, according to court officials.
Wednesday marked the latest delay in a case that has dragged on since the summer of 2011.
McFarland was arrested last May by the Pasadena Police Department shortly after he allegedly handcuffed a truant Pasadena school girl and extorted $100 from her family.
The teenage victim also alleged that McFarland flashed what she thought to be a police badge when he approached her on the day of the incident.
McFarland was later embroiled in controversy stemming from this newspaper's publication of a video of him during a boot camp training session.
In the video, McFarland can be seen coaxing children to binge drink on water to the point that many of them can be seen vomiting.
McFarland can also been seen berating a pre-teen boy who is carrying a truck tire around his neck.
The video has prompted an additional investigation on McFarland's boot camp, according to law enforcement officials.
