I read the overview that Dr. Fitzhugh gave to the zoning commission. Here are some things that just don't add up.
The Fire and Danville rescue endorsements. It is impossible for them to know what the impact would be, as they do not know what type of resident would be housed in the facility. No one knows what kind of issues these women will have, because Fitzhugh isn't letting anyone know.
There is no mention of family visitation or family group therapy sessions' impact on traffic. That is a HUGE omission on her part.
She said in the document that it is not a long term facility, in hopes of keeping her under the boarding house umbrella it seems. A year minimum commitment makes it a long term facility.
She said there won't be a fence, but does not mention if it is a locked facility.
She said that it isn't "primarily" a drug or alcohol treatment program. HOWEVER, this is a tricky way to say "Well, we're really treating mental illness here, and some women might also have a drug addiction or alcohol dependency as well. She must be required to detail exactly what type of applicants will be accepted.
She said it isn't a "acute psychiatric facility". What is her definition of acute? These women are troubled, or they wouldn't be in a year long program.
The document also states that it is "not a school". Then why is it called a school? She can't have it both ways.
She doesn't mention the proposed growth to 30 women, and how many more staff that would require. That's a BIG deal.
She doesn't mention if any of the residents will be there unvoluntarily.
She claims it won't provide medical services, which is an out and out lie. They will be medicating many if not all of the residents, which is providing medical service. If they do drug/alcohol testing, that is also a medical service. They will be checking vital signs, etc. and other functions to make sure the patients are healthy.
The community should demand access to the papers she's filed with the state health department. That will tell us what she's really up to.
