"I Need Advice and Varied Opinions"

I think I have some fairly decent insights to share with this lady. However, I just don't want to go through the hassle of registering, slogging through all the same old attacks and then getting banned again. Besides, us outlanders are not supposed to be there anyway. But I've been there, lady, on both sides of this. And I'd be happy to give you my take on it. Can someone who's registered over there drop this lady a line and invite her to take a look over here?

The German Nazis and the Russian Communists came very close to us in their methods, but they never had the courage to recognize their own motives. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power.

That came from the Elan Alumni forum. You can't make a direct link to it, no. You have to go to the main site, knock on the Communications door, ask for the relating table and THEN you're allowed to read the forum. If you want to post, you have to agree to Ken's definition of positivity.

If you read the post and if you've ever walked a mile or more in the shoes of either the mother or the son, I can't think of any way to discuss the situation in a meaningful way without talking about some aspects of the Program that Ken doesn't allow to be discussed on his forum.

Still, if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.

Dear God! I wonder if Ken deleted the message or if Andy's mom deleted it herself. Is it's verbotten to even discuss Elan alumni who are not doing "well", according to program standards?

Do you kid yourselves that it's some kind of big secret that a lot of Elan grads ditch the program mindset pretty soon after getting free? Do you people give a flying fuck at a rollin' doughnut about this mother who seems thoroughly convinced that this is some sort of crisis?

I do. Lady, I'm telling you, I've been there. Not being God myself, I can't give you any authoritative answers on exactly what to do and what not to do. But I can tell you of my experience and what I think made my home and family a safe place for my 19yo daughter to return when she decided she was in over her head.

God grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway, the good fortune to run into the ones I do, and the eyesight to tell the difference.
