Our Prices Are Insane!
« on: September 03, 2010, 06:37:55 PM »
"An American news report of a year ago revealed that, according to a U.S.-based consultancy firm, several Middle Eastern nations are slated to spend over $100 billion on weapons in the upcoming five years. Most of those arms purchases - "unprecedented packages" - will be by Iraq, Israel, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, and the "core of this arms-buying spree will undoubtedly be the $20 billion U.S. package of weapons systems over 10 years for the six states of the Gulf Cooperation Council - Saudi Arabia, the U.A.E., Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Bahrain." The expansion of American arms sales and military presence in the Persian Gulf targets Iran in the first place."

"Washington pouring over $100 billion in news arms into the Middle East will not contribute to the safety and security of its inhabitants. It will not benefit the nations of the region. In truth not a single one of them."

Everybody in the region is worried about Iran, not just Israel. The leaders of Iran might not care if, after nuking israel, they're wiped out themselves (meta suicide bombing), but the rest of the region doesn't want to deal with the nuclear fallout.  Selling them weapons is a good idea so they can defend themselves against the belligerent actions of Iran.

Since Iran has a large, if antiquated military, it would stand to reason that this military long ago would have been used against Israel if the leadership of the country truly operated in a suicidal fashion.  But it hasn't, so there is no evidence for that premise whatsoever.
I don't believe that it is possible for you to know that "everybody in the region is worried about Iran".  It does not seem reasonable for you to have this knowledge.  Your statement leads me to conclude that you are again attempting to manipulate through the use of propaganda.
There is no emprical evidence to reasonably justify this "worry" to which you refer:

"Iranian early military history boasts the epic performances of such great leaders as Cyrus the Great and Darius I. The last great Iranian military ruler was Nader Shah, whose army defeated the Mughals of India in 1739. Since then, however, nearly all efforts to conquer more territory or check encroaching empires have failed."

Perhaps though, the current state of Iran's military disposition is cause for alarm?
"There are 1,600 tanks including some 100 Zulfiqar locally produced main battle tanks. A large number of Iran's tanks are elderly British-made Chieftains and U.S.-made M-60s. - Soviet-made T-54 and T-55s, T-59s, T-62s, and T-72s were also part of the inventory, all captured from the Iraqis or acquired from North Korea and China. - A report from the International Institute for Strategic Studies says that some of the tanks' serviceability may be in doubt"

Well, seems that their armoured forces are old and shitty.  Not much to be scared of there.  How about the air force?
"The air force has some 30,000 personnel and 319 combat aircraft. However, serviceability may be as low as around 60 percent for U.S. aircraft types and 80 percent for Russian aircraft. There are F-14 and MiG 29 aircraft.  There are also some aircraft impounded from Iraq -- Russian-built Sukhoi Su-24s and 25s."

Old and shitty again.
How about nukes?

"Even the National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) of November 2007 disagrees with the notion that theocratic leaders of Iran take chances with their nuclear aspirations: They are not in the business of committing suicide for the sake of helping the Palestinian people."
